Braces, anyone?

I got the spacers today. (Feel like something is stuck in between my teeth!) Getting bands on Monday. Anybody here ever had braces? Any advice for a newbie? Thanks, Nan

I had them, but I was in 4th grade.... Gosh, I'd hate to go through that again. Good for you for doing it!

My girlfriend got braces about 2 years ago. She is doing pretty good. Stock up on the ambisol, though! She takes some advil when they get tightened and that seems to solve any pain she has from that. As far as I know, anyway. She is way tired of them, but it's really making a difference in her mouth. She will have to have jaw surgery, so she's not looking forward to that! But I think it will make a world of difference in her face. She is losing weight, too, so I think she won't be recognizable in a year! She's just gorgeous. She had eye surgery, too so no more glasses. I wish she could see how wonderful she is looking. Anyway, sorry I couldn't offer you first hand experience. It took her some getting used to, but it didn't take her long to find the rhythm of them. Good luck to you Nan. You'll be so glad you did when it's all over! Lisa

Get used to eating soup again! LOL I'm so proud of you for getting them! WOOHOO!!! I want to get some dental work done also, but wonder if I'll be brave enough! My mom had braces as an adult and has done wonderfully with them. She now has strait teeth! She loves it! Hang in there! HUGS Kimberly
