info please........
Hi all.. does any one have a web site thagt tells us how and what we should be eating? since I havent been to the surgeon since WLS surgery I never talked to the diatician, and have discovered all my eating is wrong, so I thought I would just try to start all over but I need to see amounts and types of foods, thanks..Lisa J
Lisa,
I don't know of a web site, but I can tell you what I am doing.
Daily Intake
-------------
70 g. protein
64 oz. h2o
800-1000 calories
120-carbs (I never get more that 50, but 120 is my limit)
I can't eat more than a cup of food at a time. Some foods-more, some foods-less, but I would not eat more than a cup at a time. As far as the types of food---I can tolerate anything, but I make sure that I get my daily minimums in first.
I always, always lose if I add a daily protein shake. It's a good place to ~start if nothing else.
I'll bet that you could e-mail the dietician and ask her what your daily requirements are for this stage. These doctors were paid a lot of money to provide this service to you, and you need to hold them to their end of the deal! Don't let them forget about you!!!
Good luck to you,
~C Leigh
Hi Lisa~
my dr has a pretty strict diet, but yet it is one that if fairly easy to follow. Although he won't admit it.........he has us follow the basic principals of the Atkin's diet, which is protein, protein, protein. And he prefers that the protein comes from meat or beans. I eat alot of salmon, shrimp, eggs, cheese, deli meats, chicken, pork and here comes my favorite....................Steak! And all the time! I love rib eyes!!!!!!! When ever we go out to dinner, I get the rib eye platters and my husband usually gets something off the appitizer menu. He will eat that, all my sides and 1/2 my steak! This thing is working out pretty well for him too!!! lol lol lol
I have been told not to worry to much about my calorie intake as long as I eat protein first and foremost! When I am craving something sweet.........I usually go for either fresh fruit or right now I am hooked on dried mangos! (they are not the best, but I figure better than refined sugar and they sustain my sugar craving!)
Breakfast has always been hard for me but, I learned to drink sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast. Has good protein in it too! One other breakfast that I have occasionally on the weekend is onions and eggs! Sounds strange, but I got the recipie out of a Suzanne Summers book. She also follows a high protein low carb diet. What you do is thinly slice the onions and cook them until the are almost burnt! I know, I know, but trust me!! Then take them out of the pan and cook an egg over easy. Put the egg on top of the onions and they actually taste like you are having eggs and hashbrowns! It is something with the carmalization of the onions that give it that flavor!
Anyway, I have rambled on!! Sorry! But I too agree that you never want to eat more than 1 cup of food. Sometimes I can eat this much and lots of times I can only do a few ounces. Don't know why but one other thing is to make sure you get tha****er in!! Very important!!!!! Hope some of this helps!!!!

Hi Lisa,
At this point, I'm eating anything I want too, protien first of course.M Dr.s program doesn't mention calories..at least not yet,it may eventually. I have my 6 mos. check up next week, and we'll see. I figure it up occasionally and I get just at 1000 cal a day, tho.
I'm curios(?) as to why you haven't seen your Dr. or at least his nurse since your surgery. I have seen mine 4 or 5 times, and I go to support meeting at least once a month altho I have an hour and half drive...I need the support and info, and we have fun too.
Billie
Billie, My Dr. is about 3 hours away and shortly after surgery my kids dad who I have been with for 18 years decided he did not want to help me out any more even tho we are still living together, so since Im living on disibility, (for many reasons) Mr. Mentally abusive has decided no gas money no car and it just wasnt worth the fight, so I have done all my recovery by phone, this sounds like Im A weak person but Im not really just after 18 years I am not fighting any more and hopefully I will be able to get a job and move on after this weight loss journey ...thanks all Lisa J
Well Lisa
Am sorry for that.
But first of all, you definitely need to see some sort of doc.. If it's nothing but to check your blood work. Your family doc should be able to do that for you. Do you try to email your doc and ask questions about what you should be doing. Explain to him what's going on, and if he's like mine he'll understand. I too have seen my doc about 5 times. The most important thing is that you stay healthy. So think healthy foods ..ESPECIALLY Protein!!! I hope this help.If I find anything else about some different foods I 'll let U know.
Lisa,
I by no means think you are a weak person. I too was in an abusive (verbally, mentally) relationship..on and off for 10+ yrs. I know how strong yu have to be to go thru this until the time is right to go, or not to make that person dissappear , if you know what I mean.
Keep strong, and hopefully you will be free in the near future, and the freedom is awesome !! I have been free 13 yrs., and I intend to stay that way !
The other post is right, you need some blood work done, and your surgeon can send the paper work to your PCP and it can be handeled that way...you have to put yourself first at some point, I know this for a fact !
HANG IN ...
