I don't have one, but I hear it can be a ticket to a free tummy tuck!! I know that they can get pretty big, but you probably wont need to have it repaired until you have stopped losing weight. Good luck with that, C Leigh

I have TWO!!! I found one myself. The doctor said it is still considered small and then he went and found another. Do they hurt? Well, that is a yes and no question. If I am just doing my normal activities in life, no they do not hurt. When I am doing any kind of abs work or really concentrating on holding in my stomach, yes they hurt. Is it unbearable NO not at all. Last night I asked my trainer about it and she just said to do not push yourself when it starts to hurt (but of course I did anyways ) I asked my doctor and I will not have them taken care of until I get my tummy tuck unless they become so large or they become very painful. From what I have heard from others, hernia repair is much more painful than the open RNY that I had!! Good luck, Nancy

This can be a varied question to ask. Many people seem to live/deal with them just fine until as was previously mentioned you are ready for a TT. I on the other hand had one just at the bottom of my WLS scar. It had been controllable for most of the last 5 months but-------on the friday before New Years that changed. I lifted something wrong and ended up in extreme pain and discomfort. To make it worse because of the discomfort I wasn't drinking water. At 10:30 that night I ended up in the ER. The lower intestines had pushed through and gotten tangled in the hernia. I ended up having emergency surgery the next morning at 5 am to repair the hernia. I spent a couple days at home recovering and have been fine ever since. It is just another reminder that this journey is a little different for all of us. How it may work for one is not how it will work out for others. So much for a hernia to repair with my TT oh well. Good luck!
