Stressing about my 6 mo follow up
My surgeon said I should lose another 25 pounds between the 3 and 6 mo follow up. Guess what-- there is NO way I am going to be close-- I have slowed down SOOOO much (and I was a really slow loser to begin with!).
Right not I have only lost about 15 pounds since my last visit.
I don't want to get yelled at! And I am sooo frustrated that I am not losing any longer.
Andrea I guess we shouldn't stress to much as long as we are losing weight. My Dr. made me feel bad because I had only lost 76 lb after 5 1/2 months. I'm trying not to let it bother me. I've cried and now I am going to try and forget it. Before surgery I couldn't even lose 1 lb. And now I have lost 76 lb. I am so happy with that. I wasn't able to even drive or even stand long enough to clean house. Now I am doing almost everything. I still have problems walking very far but my knees are messed up and that is why I gained so much weight in the beginning. I guess we just have to ask our selves "Are we happy with the weight loss"
Andrea,
It sound to me like you have been working out alot. I'll bet that you have put on a few pounds of lean muscle mass in the last 3 months. Maybe he'll be a little more forgiving if you let him know. Also, I'll bet that most of his patients had a rough time losing during the holidays. So you're probably not the only one with lower numbers than anticipated.
These Dr. visits sure seem to be a source of anxiety for many of us these days! Geesh!! I don't even want to call mine, much less be weighed in his office.
Good luck hun!
C Leigh
Andrea, I wonder why you say you've stopped losing.... I just went to your profile and you dropped 4 pounds in a week a couple of weeks ago honey!! Maybe you're just on a stall...in fact, I'm sure that's what it is. And I agree that you're probably gaining muscle too.
We have been neck in neck our whole journey, it seems. Had surgery the same day even. I was supposed to already have my 6 month follow up, but we don't have insurance at the moment so it's going to have to wait. Fortunately, the last time I saw my surgeon was at 2 months- so I know they will be very pleased with my progress. What do they say--- that if you lose 50% of your excess weight you're considered a success? I think you've far surpassed that haven't you?
I think you're doing great! We may be "slow" losers, but the end result will be the same!
