Hair loss
I am asking this question on this board as most off of you had surgery around the same time I did. I started losing my hair, (thinning) about 4 months out and it has continued and gotten worse in the following weeks. The top is so thin now, I really hate it. I have heard that it usually stops about 6 months out, I just wondered if any of you are experiencing this too? Do you know anyone who is further out that had hair loss and it came back? I get in my protein everyday, do all my vitamins daily, drink lots of water. I started at 388 and am now 266 so I have lost 122 so far and I wouldn't trade that for thicker hair, but I just wondered if there is some thing I am missing that would help. Thanks so much for listening. Hope you all have a great New Years!
Hi Debbie, I am having the same. Mine started about a month ago which would have been 4 months out. The bad thing is that I did not have much hair to begin with. You can see my scalp all over my head.
I have lost 103 lbs so far. When I did the Atkins diet a couple of years ago and I lost 85 lbs, I lost tons of hair, actually it doesn't fall out, it breaks off. It did come back and looked good again after several months.
I have been taking all my vitamins also and even bought pure Biotin and Super B Complex to help but apparently it didnt. It really bothers me also, GOD I HOPE IT COMES BACK...

I am having the same problems, mine started at 3 months but I think it's finally starting to slow down. My hair dresser said last week that I had new growth which is encouraging. One of my dear friends had the surgery 3 years ago, she lost a lot and yes it came back like normal after around 6 months and she said hers is better than ever. I've also heard of it coming back different sometimes, curly if you're normally straight or vice versa. I've only lost 75 pounds so mine I'm sure is a bit lighter than you and Sue but I personally don't think there is anything you can do to stop it and there is no way of knowing if what you're doing is helping or not. No use in stopping what you're doing, it may just get worst. We're almost to the six month mark, hang in there it should stop or at least let up soon.
Happy New Year.
Hi Deb!
Just wanted you to know you arent alone (as you can see from the other posts) I was lucky to have alot of hair to start out with but I too am losing it. It started about 2 months ago and I think its finally starting to slow down -- its thinned out pretty good but Im keeping it long. Ive heard that Biotin helps and keeping in all the protein but I truly believe that nothing does help except time. I had a hysterectomy back in 2001 and lost some hair then too so I wasnt shocked when this started -- but Im hoping that as we hit the 6 month point that it STOPS!!
Hang in there -- keep up the good work and here's to a HAPPY AND HEALTHY 2006!!!!

Hair? We're not supposed to be bald? Hmmmm I'd better get this checked!
Yep - I'm losing it all over. Scalp is showing, etc.. etc... I have to clean the bathtub everyday - it's GROSS! LOL But, yes, it will grow back. Just hang in there and get a hair piece! Everyone's looking at other parts of our body now anyway!

Debbie,
I'm singin the same song honey!! Gobs of hair-EVERYDAY!!! If I would have planned ahead, I could have made a wig out of my own hair!! I have easily lost half of it. Nooone seems to notice and actually, I had such thick hair to begin with that now it holds a curl and a style much longer than it did before. It's not so heavy anymore.
Not to make matters worse, but I've heard that it might not stop until even the 7-9 month mark. Yikes!! I hope I'm wrong! Then it might come in differently-curly, straight, grey, different color.
You're doing great with your weight loss! Congratulations!
Happy New Years!
