Hair Loss
There are different things you can take. I have been doing a protein rinse once a week, and using special shampoo's and creme rinse from the salon. Talk to your hair dresser, but you are looking for things with biotin in it. Make sure you are getting your protein and vitamins, but this is all part of the fun.
Good Luck

I clean my hair brush every day. I am told that nothing really stops it-- It will stop at the 7-8 month mark-- Just like it started at the 3-4 mo. mark.
For now I just part my hair on the other side to make it seem fuller. I am also making sure I get my 50g of protein in a day, Since the lack of protein is what caused it in the first place.
I have had my cosmetologist license since 1989, and I can only tell you this...Nothing will cure hair loss. The makers of products can claim that it helps reduce or slow the process, but if it claims that it will stop hair loss it HAS to do so according to FDA regulations. That is why you will notice commercials for skin, hair, and nail products are careful with the wording they do.
I am not trying to sound so down about it to anyone, I just know that hair loss comes in many forms. The stress of surgery and the lack of absorbed protein in our bodies is what is causing the loss. I had a client that lost her husband to a sudden illness and developed alopecia ariata (Spelling wrong I am sure), but anyway, her patches of hair loss finally started to subside after a year or so. Anything that causes stress in your body, such as surgery itself, can have different reactions for everyone.
I came into this surgery with the notion that I would go through a period of hair loss which was fine with me, but I tell you what I wasn't even expecting to have lost as much as I have. I have had other surgeries, but they were not quite this extensive, this was a major MAJOR surgery.
It will subside though...give it time....don't worry!

Hi Y'all
It's a shocker when you start losing clumps of hair. I am glad I had lots if hair to begin with. I started taking Biotin from day 1. So like Mandie says these products do not always work. I increased my protein added zinc and started taking BioSil. I am still losing my hair but it is not coming out in clumps anymore. It seems to have slightly imporved. I kind of went from clumps to small handfulls.
My biggest concern is what color will grow back. Being I am a redhead who has never colored her hair and I will be turning 50 in March (OMG) I am concerned (notice I said concerned not freaking out) about what color is going to appear. Guess I will have to wait and see. :- s
