Bad news for us

My husband was fired from his job today. OMG, I can't even cry, I'm so numb. We are financially ok for a few months but.... he's 50 years old and has been trying to get another job for months and months.... no one ever calls him back. My life sucks right now. Add to that the severe back pain I've been having for 10 days now (degenerative disk disease) and I'm just about to lose it.

Thank you Aly. The bad part is, that he will get the maximum amount of unemployment allowed in the state of California- but that amount won't even cover our rent ($2250) We live in a very modest 3 bedroom home in the silicon valley. Very expensive here.

Michele - I am so sorry to hear your news. I will put you in my prayers. I try to live by this quote that my mom always says, This to will pass. Life will get better not always in our time. Good Luck

Michele, I am SO incredibly sorry. I know exactly where you are coming from. The bank closed down our family business after 30 years and we all were just lost on what to do. It was and still is a tragedy. My parents went from millionares to paupers in 1 day. Scott and I went from having a secure future to having to change our entire life. We all had to file BR for legal reasons, we lost our home, my parents had to move out of state. My father is now working for someone else who isn't a pleasant boss, etc etc. Unemployment compensation is ridiculous. Finding a job is no easy task - especially when you are having to start over as an "older" adult. I will definately keep you in my prayers. I can't believe this has happened. I know you are numb, shocked, etc. There is a way out of this, it will come. A year from now you will look back and say "Wow - we did it!" Promise! Keep the faith - and let us know if we can do anything. PS>>> It's pretty cheap to live in Mississippi - wanna come? BIG HUGS! Kimberly

Michigan prices are pretty resonable too... we rent right now, but we have priced homes at around $179,000 for a 3 bed 3 bath W/full finished basement, 2 car garage, and a decent sized yard... We rent a 2-bed 2-bath, 1100 sq foot apartment that is $777 a month whi*****ludes our carports, cable, washer and dryer in our apartment, dishwasher, and central air and heating. Michigan is fun! The Lakes and Parks are beautiful! Mandie

Well you know, I'd consider it Kim but I've heard you have a full house already! Thank you for your comforting thoughts. I'm so sorry to hear about what you have been going through too. (((hugs))) Michele

Michele -- Wow. This is my secret fear, that my husband would lose his job at age 56. I definitely feel for you both. I'm glad you have some resources. Do you own a home? Will insurance continue for awhile (thinking of your back pain)? Like your other friends here, I will pray for you every day. If there's any way we can help, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. -- Sally

No, we don't own a home, we rent. Theres no way we could qualify to buy in this area. I don't want to move either....but we may be forced to at some point. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers Sally.
