Upping Calories, Any Ideas?
OK - so I wasn't as good as some WLS patients were over Thanksgiving but you know what? I don't care, I lost 3 pounds from Thursday to Sunday so apparently upping my calories by eating pie and not worrying about it made a difference. I don't deprive myself of anything I want, I will not be one of those people who never eat chocolate again ever, never eat a piece of birthday cake, never eat a potato chip again. I had this surgery to be normal and I feel like I finally am. I am down 69 pounds and still eat good food, always eat protein first and drink between. (No, not too soon after eating). No, I don't plan to continue eating bad just because I lost weight either, but my body obviously was not getting enough calories and holding onto my fat because as soon as I ate what I wanted, the weight dropped practically over night. It sure makes me want to continue to up my calories.
Any suggestions?

Janice,
The same thing happened to me. I was being sooo "good", meeting all of my diet and exercise requirements and not losing anything!! Then in the last week and a half I let go of the reigns a bit and dropped 4 lbs. Finally!!!! Oh my go****hought I would never get the ball rolling again. Phew!!!!!!! I'll give it another week and then drop the calories back down again. I know that with Christmas being here I could really lose control if I let myself. I anticipate that this will be the first Christmas in my life that I will have lost weight instead of the reverse. This year I will not buy any sweets for my family because we always get tons of stuff from neighbors and friends anyway. I'm determined to be more selective as to what I eat instead on inhaling everything in sight.
I'm sure that you kicked yourself out of starvation mode with that pie!! One more reason to love pie, right?!?!

I think if you eat a something a little bad once in a while, it wont hurt ... that way you are not depriving yourself either. I had a couple of small bread rolls last night, but when I got on the scale this moring, I was down a pound ...
No harm if you stick to your healthy lifestyle but indulge yourself in awhile, it all works out in the end!!!!!
I don't know if it's the upping your calories that made you lose weight, it might just be that you had hit a plateau? that happends every so often. I will never understand why ppl that have had bypass think they have to eat only healthy foods, the key is eating in moderation ... and removing 80% of your tummy does that for you, besids we all need carbs, protein, sugars and even fats. I eat what I want when I want, I even try to eat more than I want to just to not lose any more weight, I am at my goal and it's only been 4 months since my surgery. I went from a size 20 to a size 9 .... let me tell you it feels GREAT!! Keep up the awsome work you are all worth it. People say to me "don't you miss food?" and my reply is "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!!" Now GO START LIVING!!!
