You know, I was told that after 3 months cola is fine. I actually drink a lot of sparkling water/seltzer now-- It seems more festive tha****er. I do let it flatten out a bit though before I drink it,

My program doesn't want you drinking any soda whatsoever. I got out of that habit years ago, though. It kept making my stomach hurt like hell. So I stopped way back then. I sometimes crave a sip, so I'll have one from DH. Like someone else said, it doesn't taste the same anymore, but they can be so refreshing; I just want that feeling back sometimes. (Oh, I have to admit something. I got addicted to Diet Vanilla Cherry Dr. Pepper right when it came out. YUMMY!! I miss that one. Before (when I used to drink soda) I was a big Diet Coke fan. I'd still have some from time to time, but not all the time like before.) If I were to drink any kind of soda, I would make it flat, though. My pouch can't hold all that much anyway; I would hate to have a drink and then be in pain from the carbonation! I hate pain, so I try to avoid it at all costs! Good question Cristi! Lisa

Ever since I had my son in 1999 I had not been able to drink Diet Pepsi, which I had been an avid Pepsi product fan since I can remember. (my mom told me one of my first words was pop) . Something about the way they changed it made my stomach burn so bad I would have a hard time breathing, and I would cramp up. I switched to Diet Coke back then and have loved it since! Not that I didn't like regualr pepsi or coke...I just prefer the taste of the diet. Now, since surgery, I am able to drink either one, but I have found that it is easier to flatten Diet Pepsi than Diet Coke Mandie

Hi, I haven't had a diet soda since July 18th...day before surgery! My doctor warns against it... It can increase the stomach pouch size... I don't want to take any chances on anything increasing the size of my new stomach.... Good luck with it. El

I have not tried it yet but was a Diet Coke addict post op. I have been told its bad for the pouch? Not sure if that true or not. That is one habit I am glad I have kicked

I started drinking diet coke about a month ago. My weight loss stopped for two weeks. The only thing I had done differently was the soda. I cut it out of my diet and lost 5 pounds that week. It may have just been a fluke. Just to be safe... no more carbonated beverages for me. Sonya
