I usually will get a steak or chicken. They are both good and high in protein. It usually takes 2-3 meals to finish, though.

Elizabeth, I usually eat soup or a salad. I try to find one with protein in it. There is a restaurant in MO called Panera's. They had a pick two deal. I try to get a soup with some protein and then a half grilled chicken sandwich. I either just eat the chicken or sometimes I turn it into a 1/4 of a sandwich. Their bread is so good that it's hard to throw it away. I have done it however. I also have eaten grilled fish at a few places. Salmon is my favorite. I hear a lot of people like talapia, and I want to try that. Salads work okay for me too. I try for a low-cal dressing and get it on the side. I either put a small amount on the salad or I dip the chicken from the salad into the dressing. I eat the protein first with a little salad. I usually can't finish the whole salad. Good luck. Just keep thinking about it and pick the best choice you can make. Try not to get stressed out over the menu. That makes me sick every time I let that happen. Linda

I usually eat whatever I want...I just make sure to eat protein 1st and then alittle of whatever is left...I end up taking most home...the only thing I don't like is..the waiters will always ask if something was wrong with the food since I barely touched it...

Hello Elizabeth, I usually go for protein stuff. Chicken or fish dishes. I'll have a taste of the carb it comes with, but I'll focus on the protein & veggies. I can only eat like a third of a cup, so I am done eating fast. But I am not one to overly stress about calories of each and every little thing. I just order whatever, and focus on the protein. Good luck! It was hard my first time out. I actually ended up eating too much (I had crab at Red Lobster & my best friend ordered salmon & we shared) and vomited in my best frieds car! Eek! Good thing she had a bag nearby! But I was only like 3 weeks or a month out at the time. It's much easier now! Take care, Lisa

When we go out, we usually do mexican food since I really like it and it doesnt make me sick. I either get chicken fajitas (only eat 1 small tortilla) or chicken burrito, take a couple of bites of tortilla and then only eat insides. Fast food I go to Taco Bell and get a chicken burrito and I try only to eat the insides again. Or I will get a soft chicken taco and I'll eat half the taco and rest of the insides. Always ask for fresca style at Taco Bell, its the healthy version where they replace all the heavy calorie sauces and cheese with fresh salsa. At other restaurants like Chili's or Applebees I'l get chili or soup or something chicken. We went to IHOP for breakfast and I got a garden omelette and asked for reduced calorie egg substitute and also replaced my pancakes for whole grain toast (no butter). Still have a couple of meals left over from my omelette after eating it the whole day!! I try anything healthy! Marlize

I always look at the soups, and hope for something good. Soup always goes down sooo good for me. I can pretty much handle anything I want. I avoid anything fried, pasta, rice, and bread. I may have a bit or two of bread crust if it is really good! Often I will order a salad with steak or grilled chicken. Lots of restaurants are offering lo-carb meals now and thosre are always a winner. Friday night *after Black Friday shopping from 4 a.m. til 2* hubby and I went out to dinner out Outback. We had an appetizer of coconut shrimp. I ate two. We also ordered a prime rib and shared it...more than half of mine came home and I had it the next day for supper *shared with my 10 1/2 year old daughter*. I had a couple tiny bites of the garlic taters...a bite of the fresh bread crust...a few bites of the cukes off the salad...and hot tea. I drank with the meal because I had eaten hardly ANYTHING all day, and I was purposely breaking the rules so I COULD eat more *of all good stuff*. It worked and I was satisfied and felt good. Next day when I weighed I had lost another pound. I knew I was under my calorie and protein count and purposely wanted to put more in of both. Kathie 285/272/**222**/150ish???
