Anybody Else Grazing?

My only concern is that perhaps the carbs you are consuming are making you crave MORE carbs. Carbs make the blood sugar go up and down rapidly, creating a craving for...more carbs! OR at least more food. If you feel you really _need_ something I would suggest doing a high protein lower carb thang. Instead of crackers, have a piece of cheese or a small protein shake made with water. Instead of cereal, think about a protein bar, soy crisps, or, again, protein shake! I found myself grazing and have nipped it in the bud a couple of ways: 1. I am NOT bringing the stuff in the house! lol If my daughter wants chips or such I get her a small serving so that she can have her snack and then the temptation is removed. I don't think an occasional carb is bad, but I know it causes me to CRAVE more after and that IS bad. 2. I think before I put something in my mouth. When did I eat last? When did I DRINK last? Often we mistake the need for liquid for being hungry. I have been suckin' down Propel like a Frat boy at a free bar! It helps kill the cravings for the carbs/grazing and I notice that on the days I get lots of liquid in that the scale is dropping MUCH quicker! 3. I make sure I have lots of high protein easy to eat, easy to grab things on hand for if I DO need that "something". My surgeon's protocol is 3 meals a day...that is IT. No snacking. Well, hrm... if I am not careful my blood sugar does a MAJOR nosedive. I have my three, which I haven't been able to eat much at one sitting this past week, but if I am 2-3 hours out from eating and I feel that blood sugar crashing, and liquid didn't fit the bill, I grab: ~a couple TB of yogurt with fruit and Splenda or sf jam ~beef jerky ~cheese stick *where WOULD be be without cheese?* ~cottage cheese with a wee bit of chese and pasta sauce ~couple TB of meat chili *keep canned on hand though homemade is best* ~humus on a piece of celery ~PB on a spoon or a piece of celery ~5 or 6 pecan halves All those sorts of things. I am SUCH a carb fiend..and even now my stomach is growling and I feel hungry. I have had quite a bit of Propel so that is covered. I just had a couple of pieces of beef jerky. I am waiting to see if the "hunger" feeling goes away. I haven't eaten much at all today. I think I may go and get a couple TB of cottage cheese and have it...because I didn't have much by the way of supper. I have had an unsettled stomach the last couple of days since I was having weather related headaches. Anywho....that is my plan that I am trying to stick to. AND I am trying to stay away from that damned Halloween candy! I SOOO want to be in size 16 jeans by Christmas...and if I have those candies *which do not make me dump* 16 is going to be nothing but a fantasy! Keep saying *Nothing tastes as good as thin feels...nothing tastes as good as thing feels...nothing...." I am trying to make that my mantra. Kathie 285/272/**224***/150ish???

What great ideas. I'm going to only take protein stuff to work from now on. Cheese sticks and jerky are great snacks. I haven't had a cheese stick in months, one didn't go down well and never tried it again. Why didn't I do that with sugar?... Oh well, I can overcome this. Thank you so much for responding. It really helped. I was a little hungry for a snack tonight and settled for hot decaf tea. Yum.
