Vitamin Question ...??
As I was researching vitamins & stuff, I saw that with regular pill vitamins, normal stomached people only absorb like less than 10% of it. Chewables it goes up to a much higher number (can't remember them, though, ~50%?) and liquids it goes up even higher (like ~80%?). And that's with a normal stomach. With our pouches, I wonder how little a pill would get absorbed. I am planning to stick to chewables for the rest of my life. Although I heard that we can start back on pills if we want to. B12 will always be sublingual, however. We don't produce the instrinsic factor (I think that's what it's called?) since it was bypassed and we must get it from our saliva and absorbed under our tongue.
Just my thoughts on the subject. (I have been so wordy today!)

Thank you so much everyone for your input ... I always used to take vitamin and calcium pills pre-op so I got a couple of full bottles, and I didnt want to throw it away if I didnt have to. I think once my chewables are up, I'll take regular vitamins and calcium pills, but will stick to my liquid B-12 complex!!
Marlize be sure the calcium you take is Calcium Citrate. Because of the bypassing of the area of our stomach where the calcium is absorbed after the stomach acid gets to it, we need an acidified form of the calcium in order to absorb it. If we take lots of calcium and it isn't in that form, it can also cause kidney stones. Lack of calcium can cause our bones to become brittle, teeth to chip, muscle fatigue and weakness, osteoporosis, among other nasty things.
I would toss out any calcium that isn't citrate and get Citrical or another calcium with D and magnesium citrate *helps it absorb better*. I am working to take 2000 kg of calcium at day at 500mg hits each in 2 hour increments. I just want to MAKE SURE my body gets what it needs.
