How many calories are you guys consuming ?
Hi Guys,
IT seems that in the last week, I have been more hungry and Im able to consume alot more food that I normally do . I keep track of all that I eat on Fitday.com ... but I was wondering what the typical calorie count everyone is intacking these days. I know everyone is different, but I just want to make sure Im on track .
Thanks ~ Aly
I have no idea how many calories...I know my Barix book says not to go below 900-1200 when on a plateau, but that seems like a lot...{the biggest mistake made while on a plateau is that we tend to eat less which actually hinders us more}...I know that I am more hungry than I was in the beginning, but I am walking at least 10 miles a week: 2.5 miles on sat and sun both, and then at least a minimum of a mile a day during the weekdays. I take my time on the weekends though because we go hiking through our apartment complex..well...up and down hills, through trees, get my drift, so we take about an hour and a half to walk 2.5 miles, but I can feel my legs twitching like crazy when we do those walks. I have gotten to the point that if I don't at least get a 30 minute walk in everyday I feel lost! At least when I do plateau (I was on for a month) I know it isn't because of something I am not doing--the scale eventually moves.....

I've noticed myself able to consume more than usual for me. (Cravings/munchie kind of things.) I was getting between 100 - 300/day (I use fitday; LOVE that program!) and now I am getting between 300 - 500/day. I panic when I see it get over 300, but I have to realize that I have to eat to live. And no, I am not getting the reccomended amount of protein. However, my program does not allow protein drinks, so I have to learn to get it in my food. (I have started adding protein powder in certain things, just to up it a bit. Shh...) But I do worry that I can eat too much. Not in one sittting, but after waiting my hour til I can drink again, I could eat again an hour after that. Luckily, it's easy to ignore the 'hunger' and I just have to fight the head. Know what I mean? It will be interesting to see how many calories others are consuming.
Take care!

I am having a terrible time counting my calories. I figure them out for my meal, then I end up only eating 1/4 to 1/2 and I have to try to recalculate! So I gave that up! I do watch the carbs. I try to have a carb free day, but once in a while.............I lose!!!

I looked at your profile! You are looking wonderful girl!!!!~ I too am a Dr Read pt, so I always feel very connected when I read your post! I too have stayed away from the protein shakes like the program calls for! I am trying really hard to obey the rules! But I am starting to really get tired of the same old meals day in and day out! Do you have any hot meal ideas??
Thanks~
Grace
Hi Grace,
*blush* why thank you!! That's cool you read my profile, wow! Thanks!
That's too funny I see a message to me, as I just got done replying to your message. When I saw where you were from, I almost fell over!
I am trying really hard, as well. I'm afraid I blew it tonight, and had a trail mix bar. These munchies are going to get the best of me! But boy am I full now! No dinner for me! I agree, I am (was?) getting SO TIRED of the same ole' meals as well. I made the BEST Itallian sausage/turkey Meatloaf Saturday. A girlfriend sent me the recipe. And Costco has some really yummy salmon patties. Mmm. I can only eat about a half of one. They are very flavorful. DH also makes some turkey chili (in the crock pot). Ground turkey fried up w/seasonings, black beans, and veggies that get really mushy. Just a few ideas. Let me know if you want that meatloaf recipe. Last week all I ate was tuna fi**** felt like! I get tired of that after awhile! (Sure is a lot of protein though!)
Take care. I like reading your messages, too. Feels like home.

No one's ever mentioned calories to me. My nutritionist stressed keeping the protein high (80-100), carbs under 30, and just keep the fats down.
I too use fitday to keep track, but know from experience, when my protein, and water is up and carbs are down, I loose more.
Just my two cents worth,
