TeresaGrooms-- One test down, one to go
Fortunately I had mine removed in 1998....it was so weird..I was doing Biometrics, working out with my trainer 3 days a week, walking on days not with trainer, I got down to 301, never broke that 3 mark though. I started having these really bad lower chest pains on the right hand side, I figured I was either having a heart attack or it was because of my workout..pulled muscle or something, asked my trainer, he said to check it out with the doctor...I never did...then on Christmas eve, 1997 I had the worst of all pains that I thought I was going to die..mind you, I had been having these pains off and on for months, no ryhme or reason to any of it....just awful pain, I thought maybe I was pregnant cause I felt like I had to throw up and when I finally did it was green...YUCK...The pain was so sharp it took my breath away...then I would start crying cause it hurt so bad, I would have to get on my knees on the floor and bend over to make the pain stop...and then all of the sudden without even trying sometimes to make it stop it would......OFF TRACK AGAIN......SORRY....My husband took me to the emergency room at 10:30 at night, and they ended up telling me that more than likely it was my gallbladder...One nurse told me that gallbladder pain is worse than giving birth....I was sent home with VICODIN for the pain. So I get to my doctor, they scheduled me for an ultrasound of my gallbladder, and yep sure enough it was, I had it removed at the end of January 1998....I told the surgeon I wanted him to save some stones for me...I have about 4 of them but he said my gallbladder was full of them, and you know why? YO-YO dieting. Years and years of up and down dieting is so hard on your body. He also said that by me doing such a rigorous exercise and diet regimen is probably what started the pains. Who would have thought that?
My bariatric surgeon, Dr.Pop., asked me when going through the consult if I had my gallbladder or not because if I did, he would have suggested to have it removed because of the stress, and all the changes that will occur in my body after surgery...thank goodness I already had it done..
Man...Am I good at making a SHORT story LONG or what?
Mandie
P.S. I remember my surgeon saying that he could treat it with some type of medicine that helps to break down the gallstones so they could pass through, but that in most cases his patients have come back and had it removed because the pain comes back. Medicine seems to only be a temporary solution.
Hey Guys,
I had my gb out 12/04-It was horrible-The pain that is and yes I had just given birth 11/04-c/section and MUCH MUCH worse--I would have 10 c/sections compared to gb pain, ANYHOO- I started w/ like squeezing pain right at my mid section and hurt so bad, then when I went to the ER, after 3 doses of morphine and 3 doses of dilaudid it just took the edge off the pain, I also had multiple gall stones, I progressed from there to nausea and vommiting,,, so much fun, but they took it out and felt great since-ggod luck w/ your testing and hopefully they find a cause and solution
