Have you gotten your eyes checked?
A little over a year ago, when I was at my opthamologist, my blood sugars were registering over 300/day. At that time, the doc told me that if/when I ever get my sugar under control, to come back because my eyes will have changed for the better.
The other day, my eyes were bugging me so much that I had to take off my glasses quite often to rest them. I then realized that my sugars are now normal from the surgery - could my eyes be getting better??? I will be calling my opthamologist next week to set up an appointment.
If your eyes have been bothering you and your glasses seem a little too strong, maybe you need to get them checked. If you had diabetes before surgery and your sugars are now normal, your eyes may have changed prescription. Just a suggestion!

Hi Darla,
I was like you, before surgery with medications twice a day my sugars were always at 300 a day. Then in May 2005 they went up to 500 and I almost went into a coma. I was hospitalized and they got my sugars down and changed my prescription. Well in June (before surgery in July) I needed my yearly exam for my eyes and in August I couldn't see clear with my contacts. So I thought my eyesight must be getting better because I am no longer needing to take diabetic medication and my sugars are normal (between 80-110 a day). So I went to get my eyes checked again and I could not believe what the doctor told me. My eyesight actually got worse. He said because of my drastic weight loss that was so quick and my body is going through so many changes that my eyesight will keep changing until my weight is stabliized. I needed a new prescription for both eyes in two months and still there are days where I feel like I can't focus. I really don't want another pair. Another thing he told me is that I might be dehydrated, so when I start seeing blurry again I start to drink more water and it does help.
Thanks, Terri, for the info! I can understand needing to stablize the weight before knowing exactly where my prescription will be.
It is going to be a pain, though, if I have to change my prescription every few months for the next 1-2 years!! Oh well, got to take some bad along with the good, I guess!

Darla-
Yes, thanks for the reminder. I have been meaning to go. Mine have changed for a different but equally good reason. My blood pressure is down dramatically! I am off blood pressure medicine and my blood pressure is LOWER right now than it was when my blood pressure was under "control" with medicine. Yaaaaaaahooooo! This was one of my major hopes for after the surgery...to get off blood pressure medicine.
Anyway, I need to get a new prescription... I can't see worth a flip! LOL
