OK, we're all about 3 months out. I'm curious to know what and how much others are eating at this point. Nancy

Well, I'm still supposed to be on the pureed stage, but I cheat so dont tell my doctor. Mostly I eat soft, mushy turkey chilli and chicken curry with lots of veggies. I usually eat about 4 oz or 1/2 cup, but somedays when I'm really hungry I'll eat a little bit more. Oh, and I like sour cream so I add a teaspoon to almost every meal. On weekends I spoil myself with eating the inside of a chicken taco or a chicken burrito witout the rice. The insides usually work out to 1/4 to 1/2 cup. I'm still really careful though, but getting more adventurous (sp?) as I progress. Marlize

i feel like i'm eating much more normally now. i like fish, chicken, shrimp, eggs, cheese etc. saturday night i went to the Cheesecake factory and my girlfriend and i shared Thai Lettuce Wraps. I had no trouble at all with them but it didn't take much to fill me up! I also had one bite of the no sugar added cheesecake (made with splenda). i made some thai red curry this week with chicken and veggies, i'll probably be eating it all week.

Well the only meat I seem to tolerate is really tender steak and that is only a few bites. Im getting kind of stale on my normal eating choices and ventured into my sons beefaroni last night w/ no ill effects, but I would much rather stay far far away from carbohydrates... but I tend to eat the same things over and over & am in need of some other meal options. The only way I get in enough protein is through 12oz of milk and 2 scoops of Unjury a day. Here is what I eat most of the time. Breakfast choices : 1/4to 1/2 of a meal replacement bar by South Beach 1/2 cup rasin bran 1/2 to whole slice of whole wheat toast yougurt Eggs make me sick feeling so I avoid them. Lunch the other half of my meal replacement bar fresh mozzarella and tomatoes a few bites of chicken salad if they have it at school. chili or a stew yougurt Dinner THe same thing as my lunch maybe pinto's and cheese I really love veggies and fruits, but I know were suppose to do the protein 1st.... I just cant seem to like anything high in protein... regular cheese, eggs, or meat... I didnt care for eggs or much meat before the surgery ( guess thats why Adkins never worked for me ) ... what kinds of stuff would you guys recommend that arent heavy meat based ???

I go to the oriental market and buy Red Curry paste (or sometimes i get Panang or Green curry) and i mix 2tbsp of that with one cup of coconut milk and saute that for a little while by itself. Then I'll add another cup of coconut milk and saute chicken or shrimp (or both****il they're cooked. i'll then add a half a cup of water and veggies (eggplant, broccolli, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, peppers, baby corn and mushrooms or any other combination of those or other veggies) and cook it until done. at the last minute i'll add a tiny bit of Thai fish sauce (i hate the smell of it but once added to the curry it blends with everything else and brings the flavors together- it's just not right without it. I used to add a tbsp of brown sugar but i've been leaving that out. I don't know if you have Albertson's grocery stores but if you do they sell red and green curry pastes that aren't bad. Other than that i've only found them at Oriental markets. I got hooked on this stuff when i spent some time in New Zealand. They have awesome curry pastes for both Thai and Indian curries in all their grocery stores. I LOVE curries and with the premixed pastes you can make real curry that tastes just like at the restaurant. Next time i'll tell you about the Vindaloo and Tikki Massala pastes i get at the Indian market.

Marlize- Have you tried the Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook-- It is a white softcover book by -- Levine??/ I think. The recipes are great-- and they even have guidelines-- if your in this stage, chop it up, puree, etc. I love it and it has a good recipe for tofu curry (green)

but this is typical of what i eat.. (same thing day in and day out) breakfast I either do ONE of the following..: 1 stick of cheddar cheese stick with 3 whole wheat crackers or 1 blue bunny vanilla yogurt with 1 stawberry or 1 slice of really crisp bacon strip with something else.. lunch: a homemade stew/chili that has chick pea's, kidney beans, caschews, tomato and spices also put ground turkey in it.. sometimes i will do a little bit of corn bread in it (not a whole lot- just enough to satify craving for "bread or corn" supper: whatever i make for dh and son.. but TRY to stay away from carbs- and do protein.. I can't do eggs or chicken.. get stuck- and I get sick- and i can't do frozen meals like WW or lean cuisine or South beach- i DUMP on them! go figure... jennifer
