"Biggest Loser"
Does any one like to watch the Biggest Loser...It is one of my favorite shows (Crime shows are my absolute FAVORITE). I didn'****ch the first season, but this time I really am getting into it. I guess it makes me feel at home. Sometimes I get ticked off because of how much they have lost in such a little time. I wonder how long their week really is? A TRUE week or a tv week of 2 months? ANYHOO.. Last night Mark was working out between 4-6 hours a day before the trainer would even get there....he only lost 4 pounds, whereas Jeff lost 11 pounds...and it didn't appear to be that he was working out as hard as Mark.....anyway my point I am so LONG STORY-ISH trying to make is that the trainer lady was concerned that Mark wasn't eating enough along with the extra excercise he was doing, well during the weigh-in that held true if you ask me...he only lost 4 pounds, but must have gained it in muscle....I bet he wasn't eating enough extra calories.
I think we tend to get ourselves stuck in the idea that we have to do more and eat less which actually hinders us. We reach these plateaus and then try and not eat as much which hurst us worse...we just need to keep doing what we are doing at it will all work out in the end.
Have a GREAT day
Mandie
HI Mandie - I am so glad you posted this - you are so right! I was feeling a little "Mark-ish" this morning. I am 12 weeks out today and down 51 lbs. I wiegh in on Wednesdays, last week I only lost 1 lb and this week I only lost 2 lbs. I know I should be really happy with this but it is quite disappointing after all those 4 lb weeks. I have been exercising almost everyday. I joined the Y. On Mondays I walk on the treadmill for 45 minutes and then do water aerobics for an hour, on Tuesday nights I am do a spinning class, Wednesdays I again do the treadmill and water aerobics, on Thursdays my kids and I go on a hike and on the weekends we do another hike and walk. I have never done this much exercise in my life. I am truly enjoying it but wondered this morning if it is hindering my weight loss (I know it really isn't in the long run but just like you said about the difference between Mark and Jeff). I had really hoped to lose another 15-20 lbs before Thanksgiving but it is looking like that is not going to happen.
I feel like I really need to take your advice and just keep doing what I am doing and will be better for it in the long run!!
Thanks - Stacey
Thanks for the post Mandie. I've been on a platau for almost 3 weeks now, up and down up and down!
N e ways, I wasnt an avid exerciser but started this week with a routine of doing "walk away the pounds - 1 mile" 3x a week and then 1x Marie Winsor pilates. I'm going to do that until the first week of November and then switch over to "walk away the pounds - 2 mile (high calorie burn)" 3x a week and then 1x Marie Winsor pilates.
Okay the point is (I'm long story-ish too) that I've been eating 6 meals a day (that includes 2 protein shakes a day and the food works out to about 2 cups a day), but decided this week that I'm going to eat less because I'm not loosing anything.
Reading this, maybe I should just keep on eating what I'm eating, and not lower my food intake because I'm exercising too and this might start up my weightloss. I think I made a point ...

I don'****ch the show. But I agree with your point. I don't think I am eating enough. The last few days I had some sugar free pudding as an "extra" snack. And oddly enough- I lost 2 lbs one day and 2 lbs the next. I haven't had that big a loss in a long while. (It's usually 1 lbs, 1 lbs, 1 lb stall stall stalll stall....)
So I am going to start tracking again on Fit Day. See if I can figure out what the "Optimal" amount of calories are for me.
