I spoke to soon!
Hi All!
I posted last week that I was finaly feeling better, well, I spoke too soon. I have had a horrible weekend with my stomach aching so much. Nothing seems to make it feel better. I have tried EVERY gas/antiacid over the counter product available. I am under some suspecion that this might be hormone related since it is time for Aunt Flo. I have also wondered if possibly I could have some type of infection in my pouch, but I am not running any fever. Is anyone else having or had these type symptoms around this time? Any suggestions or advice I might could try? I go back to see my doctor next tuesday and hope he can offer something. The last time I called the office and spoke with the nurse, she told me it was normal and to give it some more time. Well, I am almost 12 weeks out, isn't that long enough? It just kinda feels like it's been squeezed a lot and is sore, also with some deep gas as it helps for a second to belch. Thanks all for listening!

Teresa, I spent last Monday in the ER because of my stomach pains. Well, they gave me a "grasshopper" which is a ****tail of Maalox and Lidocaine, and that took away the pain....for a while. They didn't give me anything else, and by the time I got home I was in agony. I called my gastro doc and he called in some liquid Lortab which lasted a couple days. Well, last night, it was back. I don't know what I am going to do either- it is horrible when I get an attack!! No one can figure out what it is- blood and urine tests are fine; liver tests and ultrasound show no signs of gallbladder trouble. It is so frustrating because, well, if they can't find anything wrong then you must be faking the pain! Geez, I certainly am not faking the pain- I have MUCH better things to do than spend the day in the ER!!!
Well, at least we have each other. Not much consolation, I know, but I noticed that your weight loss is slow like mine. I wonder if this is all related? I sure wish I had an answer. I am eating better than I have ever eaten in my life, I'm going to a personal trainer 2 X a week. I don't get in enough water, I am aware of that, but geez, on Saturday I got in 120 grams of protein even though my average over the last 2 months has been 60 grams. It is sooooo frustrating!
I didn't mean to make this about me, but I wanted to tell you about my ordeal to see if you could relate because I sure don't have any answers. I wish I did!!
Michelle,
If you ever get an answer or find a solution, PPPLLLEEAASSEEE let me know. Sometimes I think I get so emotionaly uptight over it that I make it worse. My stomach is actually sore to push on, like I am somehow bruising everything inside. I hope we both get better soon, I really can't live like this, it makes me misrible! I felt good last week, why did it have to return??
Keep me informed!
Teresa
Well, I saw my surgeon today, he said my pain was not in the "right" area for something serious like a ulcer or blockage or anything and that he has had others like me who just take a lot longer to heal and adjust to the surgery, he said to give it another 2 to 3 months more to heal and feel better, he swears he is sure it will go away, but said if for some reason it doesn't he could reverse me....I was kinda surprised to hear him say that, but I think he could tell I was tired of being in pain every day. He did say my weight loss was on schedule, even though I thought it was slow, I had lost 34 lbs by his scale since july 29th. So, I guess I will just give it some more time, up the MOM and gas -x and gaviscon and everything else and see if he is right....I don't want to think about a reversal unless absolutly necessary!
Teresa, I spoke with my surgeon today, and he's convinced it's my gallbladder. My gastro and PCP think it's NOT. I am so confused. I have been sick and nauseated all day. I'm gonna go ahead and have the Hida scan to see if it's my GB, and he also ordered an upper GI. I swear, I am going to have every single body part scanned and get to the bottom of this. I can't take much more either!
It would scare the living crap outta me if somebody suggested a reversal. YIKES!!!
I will definately let you know if I find out anything. Please do the same!! Hope you feel better!!
Michele,
I was very sick when my gallbladder was bad, my scan didn't show a lot but they took it out based on symptoms, about 5 years ago, took a few months afterwards but the pain went away that the gallbladder had been causing. Rapid weight loss is very hard on the gallbladder and could very well be the problem for you.
I was kinda shocked myself that he mentioned a reversal, but at least he is not one of these doctors that won't do what is necessary and if that turns out to be necessary (which I don't think it will), then at least I know he is willing to do it. I have heard of a rare few others that were having malnutrition problems and their surgeons refused to reverse. Just as I think this was a necessary surgery to improve my health, for some it becomes necessary to "take it down" to fix their health. I think our bodies are unique and sometimes there are those out there that the body cannot adjust to the new style of plumbing, I do hope I am not one of them!
Please let me know what you find out!
