I cant take this ANYMORE. As big as I am, I really should be losing quicker. I started this journey at 350 (started at 365 and lost 15 pre-op). Right now, Im only at 302-304 (ive been the same for 1.5 weeks now!) I really feel that as big as I am (Im only 5'3), I should be losing way quicker. I used the chart thingy at thinnerself.com and I am below average! i dont know what I could do to speed this up. I know I dont drink enough liquids or eat quite enough protein (i think im close with the protein though...maybe a little off), but I really think It should be coming off quicker. When I come on here and see how all of you guys who have had surgery around the same time as me are losing so much quicker, it really depresses me. What am I doing wrong? All i know is that Im going to Curves tonight if it kills me. I havent been there for probably a month. *sigh* Tiffany RNY 7/26/05 365 preop 350 day of surgery 302-304 now 150 goal (if that EVER happens!)

Tiffany, I am an extremely slow loser too. You have lost more than I have so be proud! I hope that by losing slower my skin and hair will fair better, I would really like to keep my hair!! LOL I fought for so long being sick, I am just now feeling better so you would think I would have lost faster, not slower! But....so long as we are losing and we are healthy I think that counts the most! take care, email me if you like! Teresa open rny 7-29-05 237/203/150 or whatever my body decides on! [email protected]

Hi Tiffany, I am still kinda down in the dumps right now myself. I have been stuck in between 375-380 now for a week and a half also......VERY FRUSTRATING isn't it. I thought for sure I would lose REALLY fast in the beginning because I am probably one of the highest weights...oh well... I think I am slacking off on my water and protein though and that will make a big difference. I also know from my past weight loss attempts, that if you don't eat enough your body thinks you are trying to starve it so it starts to store anything you put into it so it won't be without all the fat a water it needs. I know it seems crazy, and I am in the same boat here, but we really need to make sure we are eating all we should and getting our water and protein in. I started at 444 in February I was at 426 on day of Surgery Today I am at 377 Total of 67 from FEB or 49 since surgery. I actually have hit 52 pounds but now I have done nothing but gain 3 lose 2, gain 1 lose 3, up and down--up and down. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Hang in there we'll make it!! Mandie

Girl, hang in there and know you are not the only one ... there are many of us out there!! I was thinking the same thing, I'm a heavy weight and should be loosing really fast ... when in reality, I'm loosing at a "moderate" rate (I think that should be the new term rather than "slow")! I started at 318 and now I'm at 265 and standing still for the past week or so. As long as we keep on supporting each other, and try not to compare ourselves ... we can do this!!! You are doing great and hang in there!! Marlize Open RNY 7/26/05 318/265/150

You've lost 5 pounds a week since surgery. THAT'S HUGE! I, too, feel jealous of those who lose so much faster at first, but it all averages out at the end of the year. You want to lose 200 pounds. You are averaging 20 pounds a month, which is 10% of your total per month. Again, THAT'S HUGE! Keep up the water, protein, and exercise. When loss slows below 5% of your remaining total per month, then change your protein and change your exercise to surprise your body. Note: With 150 pounds left to lose, 10 % is 15 pounds per month, 5% would be 7.5 pounds per month. I keep reminding myself as my loss isn't what I dreamed... it is coming off! I am not gaining! The weight I have lost has made exercising easier, so I will continue to lose! Hugs, frances

Hi Tiffany and all of here at the July boards Slow losers OMG Its called the Yo Yo game. Down 2 up 3 down 1 up 1 . Its so frustrating. I usually stall every 10 pounds. Than one day I get on the scale and poof 5 lbs gone. As long as the end results are losing all I can say is I am happy. You will lose the weight the way your body is suppose to. Just stick to the plan and you will lose. I just want to throw out the frigin scale on a daily basis but does that keep me away. Of course not I weight my self all day long. You would think I would save myself from this frustration NAH.... I know in the end I will eventually lose. It may take me longer than I would have liked but I will lose. and so will you. So keep on going girl You really have done amazing so far dont short change yourself. Good Luck hugs Pam

Hi everyone, I talked with my Dr's office this week because I was up and down 1-3lbs for the week and Tony stated that sometimes people can plateau every few days or every week. He said to break the plateau try going back to nothing but clear liquids for 2 days and then for 2-3 days just do the protein drinks for breakfast, lunch and dinner, in between those protein drinks take in water. The hardest part to this is you must exercise everyday where you work up a sweat and after that week you should see your see results in your weight loss. He also said that you could actually do nothing but protein drinks for a week and it would be alright. I hope this helps. It helped me break that yo-yo effect. While I was talking to him he told me to weigh since I had decided not to weigh for another week and I had lost 4 lbs.
