What kinds of things does everyone like to eat now?? I am on a phase of wanting nothing but dill pickles and pickle juice. I crave the taste. I know that probably sounds really yucky to some of you, but it hits the spot. I have also kind of gotten in the bad habit of eating alot of crackers. I found the cheesy sour cream ones from Cheez it. I have to kick that habit. I was just curious as to what kinds of things everyone else liked at this stage in the game.

I had ritz crackers (4 of them) with meunster cheese melted on it for lunch today. It was really good. And as far as drink, the only thing I can stomach is iced tea with splenda. I am really having trouble in the food area too, so I am looking forward to other people's answers.

I'm also eating a lot of crackers. My vice is wheat thins, only because I have trouble with most food and crackers tend to go down easily. I also eat a lot of protein bars (Southbeach Diet Cereal Bars) they go down easily too. As for drink, I mainly stick with water, all fluids tend to give me heartburn so I suffer with water, it seams to cause the least amount of discomfort. I see my surgeon this Thursday so I will start a question list for him.

Oh Boy- Crackers agree with me.. I buy Fat Free Wheat thins from Fit&LIVE at ALdi's... I think it is my carb addiction.. They go down easy too. I try to avoid them and eat healthier.. even little bites often of high protein meats- chicken-fish and I love shrimp -- the shrimp is high protein. I switched to eat HIGH PROTEIN cereal as a snack Kashi Go Lean. Then those damn Nacho chips that I NEVER ate before have become a new meal loaded with chicken strips and melted cheese... I get some protein that way and do not feel as guilty with the carbs.. Usually for breakfast I try to gag down a hard boiled egg white.. then have a few crackers and tea or coffee.. Then water Lunch usually soup or salad. a protein bar ( gagged in the afternoon) usually half. Dinner MEAT CHICKEN FISH OR SHRIMP with slirpy mashed potatoes mixed with protein powder.. more drinks till bedtime... good luck to you I know it is hard.. PICKELS and PICKEL juice?????????? as long as ice cream is not involved the first year your safe... Must need some vitamin from pickel juice to crave them. I crave OLIVES greek Olives..

I am having a hard time with food too. I eat a lot of pretzels, not good I know. Nothing really taste good. Just the thought of some food makes me nauseated, food never used to be a problem for me. I would love any ideas that you all might have. I do drink protein twice a day , and for drinks I drink water or diet snapple cranberry/rasperry juice. My doctor said no coffe or tea, I do not like them anyways so I guess it does not matter.

I can not eat any meat. Just the thought of meat makes me ill. I got sick off both chicken and crab & since then, they have become a complete aversion ( both taste and smell). About the only thing I do enjoy is Capris Salad ( fresh soft mozzarella, tomatoes, & Valsomic Vinager), peanut butter toast, south beach meal replacement bars, chili, yougurt, & raisin bran... And Necter Protein drinks and my Unjury Chocolate. Nothing sounds good to me & I eat more or less for sustinance & nothing else. ALy

food has been very difficult for me too- since about 1 1/2 months out. I dumped on a south beach frozen meal and ever since- any meat has been hard.. but i can do.. chili with all things- CORNBREAD- yikes.. but it goes down yogurt and strawberries cheddar cheese sticks, mozzeralla (sp?) cheese sticks mashed potatoes (baked potatoes) crab legs from red lobster salmon salad ham from the deli (not processed) but here's the weird thing- yesterday I was able to eat a HAMBURGER FROM MCDONALD"S (the top bun part only with the meat and the pickle and onion, ketchup, mustard. and 2 fries... and it went down fine- and didn't make me sick... i just had to try it.. but now i know i'll need even MORE will power not to eat it.. jennifer

I eat a lot of refried beans. Rosarita green chilli and lime. I also eat alot of cheese. I still like soup, too. Not much I actually "like" to eat. Meat usually makes me cringe just to think about it. That pickle sounds good, I'll have to try it!!

for protein: i eat chili. i get shaved turkey breast and put a little gravy on it. i get plain chicken breasts from Pollo Tropical that are really soft, tender and inexpensive. a little humus. refried beans, peanut butter, yogurt, soup and salads from Panera. a couple of macadami nuts (lower in carbs than most nuts and high in the healthy fats). I'll eat string cheese or habanero cheddar. tuna salad, sturgeon, whitefish, and smoked salmon have been easy for me to eat. for carbs i'll have a few olives, hot peppers, or pickels. canned vegetables. no sugar added canned fruit. strawberries. yogurt. banana. salad. popcorn (it doesn't have any refined flour so if i have to "cheat" i'd rather have corn than crackers for a snack). i'll bake a 100% corn tortilla (again, no refined flour which is important to me) in the toaster oven till it's really crispy and use that with cheese or taco meat or a combination. etc. i've even gotten to like my protein drinks.

I like to have for lunch a slim jim and a cheese stick. I try not to do it too often because of the sodium. But it goes down so nicely that I swear I would eat it every day if it wasn't so sodium loaded. However, it is important that I roll the slim jim between a paper towel and get as much grease off of it as possible. LOL! I can eat chicken and lunch meat. I have also tried shrimp and it goes down good. Just can't afford to eat it too often! I also eat refried beans with cheese, low carb protein bars, I found some "diet oatmeal" that works pretty good (it even has added protein), and I eat eggs for breakfast (but they sometimes don't agree). A piece of watermelon at the end of any meal is like a slice of heaven. I was not a big watermelon eater pre-surgery...but it is one of the few fruits I don't dump on. I do also love apple and cheese or apples and peanut butter. Another favorite of mine is cottage cheese (low fat) and applesauce. I don't eat it often but kind of have it as a treat sometimes. I sometimes add cinnamin to this and it taste like some type of dessert to me. I was on a kick where I added cheese to almost everything. But I have slowed down on that. For some reason pasta goes down great (especially in sauce but it is hard to find low sugar sauces). But of course I try to only have a tiny bit on the side of a meal. I have this weird thing where I seem to be able and want to eat more right before my period. (Not huge amounts...but it seems slightly more food goes in before I feel full) Has anyone else noticed this about themselves? Linda
