meat aversions
Since my Surgery in July, I can not stand the taste of meat and I am almost instantly ill if I eat meat of any kind ( chicken, beef, pork, Even seafood & canned tuna/chicken!) I can tolerate some fresh crabmeat and some hamburger ( both in very small quantities). I eat them and within 5 minutes have to . Im kind of bummed about this as I used to love most meats before and this is a huge amount of protein. Anyone else experience a meat aversion since surgery ??

Yes-
I can eat most shellfish and seafood (I just from trying some tuna steak (AGAIN) ), but ground meat or beef or pork or lamb is a big
I can eat a few morsels of dark meat chicken, but my stomach doesn't feel comfortable with it.
Keep trying a few different things. I found shrimp very easy to digest, and white fish and salmon. I also am buying the fake boca burger meat for chili and such.
Hopefully it will get better!
Cheers!

I, too, have been having problems with chicken. I haven't tried beef in great quantity, as my surgeon says to wait 6 months before trying pork and beef. Tonight, though, I had cornish hen (I've become quite the cook! It was so good! I made cornbread dressing and greenbeans to go with it. I ate some of all of it. I think I ate way too much! But I did not get sick. It was so good.
But I am still stuck at the same weight.
I was a lot a couple of weeks ago, though, then I got me gallbladder out, and now, a week later, I am finally eating normal again. I wish the darn scale would MOVE!!!!
I just saw my surgeon today and he told me to try to eat more solids now. Sooooooooooo I tried to eat a little steak tonight. BAD MOVE! I have been eating fish with no trouble and ground beef and ground chicken too. Canned tuna didn't feel good but at least I kept it down. I'm not giving up yet tho, man I miss them big steaks!

just a suggestions.. I have been eating soy protein burgers and they are not that bad to be honest.. i put it in my skillet with a lil seasoning and then i melt a piece of fat free cheese over it and eat it with a-1 sauce they are about a 2.10 oz proportion and they have anywhere from 12-15 grams of protein plus the cheese is 4 and there you got a 19 gram protein meal.. i have not tried them on the grill yet, but I really want too, because that flavor wow they would be really good then... and the first time i ate steak honey I thought the steak was bad I threw it out... lol would not try it again and finally I did and oh it was good.. but I have only ate it like 2 times since surgery it does not sit well in my tummy to heavy and steak is really harder to digest.. I also, eat alot of deli meat its easier on the stomach than the real meat.. I love the sun dried tomato turkey at wal-mart and they have great chicken breast.. 12-14 grams of protein again for 2 oz of it.. so, I have been eating alot of it.. actually I have eating in the past 2 -2 1/2 wks maybe 3.. almost 3 lbs of the turkey and chicken breast lol.. that is all i eat most days.. 5 -2 oz meals a day.. and somedays only 3.. just depends on if i am hungry or not... and i eat alot of fat free cheese rather than regular cheese because two slices of it has no fat.. and 8 grams of protein.. so i really try to get that in.. anyways goodluck on the meat thing.. try some deli meat and see how that settles..
Here is the weird thing for me. Everyone was telling me pre-op how chicken was too dry and it would probably be hard for me to eat. But I am finding chicken is one of the easiests things for me. If it weren't for chicken. I don't know what I would be eating!! LOL!
I also like sliced turkey and other deli meats. And I have found shrimp goes down ok too.
