HELP! Only 6 pounds lost this month!
Hi Everyone. I saw the post on the slow losers and talked myself out of posting there. I've only lost 6 pounds this month!! My third month and only 6 pounds! I really expected more than this. I'm getting in all my protein every day, 80 - 100 oz of water every day, and my vitamins everyday. My calories as best I can figure are about 800 - 1000 a day, just like the doc said. No white flour, pasta, starches, keeping the carbs under 20-25 like I was told. (I snack a little so I'm setting a timer and only eating every 3 hours to make sure snacking isnt' a problem) Exercising 3 times a week and walking an additional time. So, what gives? I figured since I'm malabsorbing and I'm eating so much less than before surgery the weight would be falling off!!
For history...I lost 18 pounds during my 2 week pre-op diet. Have lost 42 pounds from July 5th surgery until Sept 26 weigh in but only 6 pounds of that was in Sept.
I'm really frustrated. I follow the pouch rules but according to the forecast chart...which I know isn't totally accurate...I'm 30 pounds behind schedule. Feels like during this honeymoon period when eating and weight loss should be so easy, if it's this slow now what will happen later on?? I started out at 320 pounds and 5'5 so I'm no lightweight. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
I got ya beat hon! I lost a whopping 4.5 pounds this month! And unless something pretty damn miraculous happens in the next 2 days... well, I'm gonna say heck with it!
You know, we can do all this stuff, but our bodies are going to take their own pokey sweet time to get rid of it. So, we should basically sit back and wait and watch and keep doing what we need to do.
I had this period of time where I was so frustrated but every time I read a profile about someone like myself who has been through this surgery (who started out near the weight I did ) and finally 2 or 3 years later - every single one of them has lost all the weight they wanted to. Also go look in the Library on this site and you can find pretty much all the questions that we're wondering about now have been answered before by all the veterans of weight loss!
42 pounds is an AWFUL lot of weight to lose! You should be proud!! It will start falling off again... be patient and keep doing the right things!
Good luck and keep the faith!
Thanks Nan for the perspective. I'm very surprised that anyone else has lost like I did this month. As much as I say I'm not going to compare myself to others, it just happens. You're right about being patient. I'm going to do that and keep on the way I've been told to...and hopefully the weight will come off. Thanks again.
I had a friend who had this surgery a few years ago. Over one summer, she was not losing ANY more pounds, but everytime I saw her she looked skinnier. She swore the scales were saying the same everyday, but I could tell she was losing inches. All of the protein you are eating is helping to keep and build your muscles, which is replacing some of the fat - so it's GOOD!
Don't stress over it. Our day will come soon enough. I've only lost a few pounds this month - it sux, but I got into a smaller size pant, so I figure we are doing the same thing.
Hang in there! Keep the faith!
Sounds like you are doing all the right things!

Thanks Kimberly. My neck is getting kinda turkey-like so maybe the inches are dropping even though the pounds aren't. Good point. I'm really trying not to let it bother me but it does, especially when people tell me about their friends who lost so fast with surgery. I realized today at work the dress I had on was just hanging off me - time to get rid of it so maybe I need to measure for some incentive.

You seem to be doing everything right. I lost very little in the month of July I think it was 6 or 7 lbs. I made some changes in the way I eat and started losing again. Still slow but less stalling. There is a great free site called fitday.com where you can track your diet and excercise. I use it as as guideline. This helped me realize I was eating too much fat or too much carbs. So I was able to adjust my day accordingly. I really like the site. You might want to try it.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck

Sandy-
I've only lost about 5 pounds this month. We can all comiserate with you.
After my first stall post a week ago, Michele told me "step away from the scale"
Of course that worked for about 8 hours
Hang in there! We love you, and this has to work or so many people wouldn't be undergoing the surgery.
Cheers-
Andrea
