Calling all scale-a-holics
Hello fellow scale-a-holics,
Isn't funny how some of us are addicted to the scale (I always have been - with every weight loss attempt). For me, I seem to stay on track better. I will admit that I weigh numerous times per day (morning, home for lunch, right after work, before going to bed). It actually makes me feel better most of the time.
One piece of advice is to invest in a quality digital scale - one that measures in .2 pounds not whole or half pounds. My old scale would drive me crazy bouncing from one number to the next. I finally broke down and invested $110 in a good one from Tanita Company. I'm down 59 pounds since my 5 July surgery and can't wait to hit the big 6-0!
Have a great day,
Maria
I had not had a scale in litterally over 12 years....scales only went up to 300 pounds back then.....I Know I was over 350 in 1999 when I was pregnant with my son, and that was after having had lost about 49 pounds from doing the Biometrics program in 1997-1998 ( had gotten down to 301--never broke the 3 mark), and then gaining it back plus extra of course, so needless to say I hated scales...My son will be 6 on Oct 8th. I had him 2 weeks early by c-section because my BP was extremely high, can't remember numbers right now, but I know the bottom number was higher than top. I was so embarrassed when I was in the Doctors office for my check-up and he called to tell the hospital that he had a patient that he was not able to weigh properly because she was over 350 pounds that would be having a c-section.
Anyhoo.....I also finally bought a scale through Bed Bath and Beyond....it is a Jenny Craig digital and weighs, like you said, to the .2 mark... I can now say that by not having a scale to keep track of my weight, even the slight changes, has probably helped keep me gaining weight all these years. Now I weigh myself everday and I never thought I would.

I invested in a digital scale a week after surgery-- I gained 10 lbs on my old one in a day and new it was time to give up.
I have the Tanita scale that measures to .2 and also calculates BMI. It has 4 settings, so four people in the household can weigh themselves.
It still bounces a little, but never more than a pound.
I bought a digital scale right after surgery. I thought everything was A-O****il I read something about testing it- Get on it several times in succession and see if you get the same readings. So I got on it 4 times in a row and got 4 different readings. I am going to take it back. I went back to my old one, which I know is about the same as my doctors scale anyway. IT was the one that gave me the good news that I dropped 7 pounds last week! I love it!
Hell, Sue, if I go out of town, I take my scales with me! My husband forbid me from taking them to Hawaii (I was only 4 1/2 weeks post); but the hotel we stayed at had a fitness center with a scale - whoo hoo....also we took a helicopter flight and had to be weighed (I think I was the only crazy one in the group that actually wanted to know what the scale said). I've been a scale-a-holic for as long as I've been trying to lose weight. I can remember going on a business trip right afer 9/11, having my luggage searched, and there was my scale....the inspectors sure looked at me as if I were crazy!
Take care,
Maria
