I went for my 6 week check--up yesterday (actually 7 weeks--doc was on vacation last week)--so anyhoo...weighed in there at 386...now I am stuck....I know it will pass though. I also received paperwork to have bloodwork done next month (3-month follow up). The nutrtionist told me to make sure and get in 500 mg of calcium..which she said I am doing ok with my milk for the calcium...for now....... My main goal this month is to find a protein shake I like so I can "wheen" myself off so much skim milk. She thinks I do not eat enough food and that I am filling up with milk...she's probably right...I drink the milk for protein. I am suppose to have 70 grams a day....rrrrggghhhh. Anyhoo... Thus far Initial consult with Dr. Pop weight 444 (end of February) Day of surgery July 27, 2005........426 Today......................................386 ------------------------------------- Total loss since surgery...............40 Since consult............................58 Mandie

Gratz Mandie!! We all seem to be doing pretty darn well in here. Keep up the good work. As far as protein shakes go, my favorite is this: 8oz 1% milk (8g protein) 1 scoop AnyWhey Tasteless protein (17 g protein) 1/2 banana squirt of sugar free chocolate syrup It is divine girl!!! Nickie

That sounds good...I will have to try it. Is AnyWhey the brand name? I tried designer whey brand and couldn't stand the grittiness.. Mandie

I have tried a few protein bars but there is just too much to eat at once for me...so I usually eat half of one early in the day and the other half later on.....What is your favorite? Mandie

You ROCK girl! I'm so proud of you for keeping up with your protein the way you do. I'm SO bad at it. I kept getting discouraged so I just gave up. Bad Bad Kim! Hey - we are a TRUE melting pot! HUGS Kimberly

Milk has a lot of sugar. AKA carbs. It's not good to drink a lot of it. Have you ever tried Unjury? That's the protein powder I love. www.unjury.com Other high protein foods include: low fat or fat free cottage cheese low fat sting cheese sticks Beef Jerky chicken and turkey nuts (but in moderation because they are high in fat)

Another thing- about protein bars- they have sugar alcohols in them, and some have extremely high carbs, but sugar alcohols make me dump, so beware.

I have heard about unjury but have not tried it yet, I will go and check out that website..... I love cottage cheese, anything cheese really...but I have to becareful because too much string cheese binds me something fierce.... TMI I know... I am afraid to try jerky yet because I still cannot tolerate beef very well..I can eat ground turkey because I can mu**** to a paste consistency but beef just doesn't break down the same.. Thanks for all the info Mandie
