Staple line distruption??

I will be 2 months out from surgery tomorrow and I have been extremely lucky to have had no problems after surgery. My concern is the amount of food I seem to be eating in one sitting. I can have on average 8 ounces of food without feeling uncomfortably full. I stop myself before the full feeling because I don't want to gain any of my weight back. I have so far lost 43 pounds which I know is good but it has been coming off rather slow and I feel the weight I am losing is due to my good food choices. I would like to hear from anyone who has had staple line distruption or anyone who feels they eat too much at one time. I am getting concerned that I may have something wrong. Thanks.

I saw your post on the main board and replied there, but I also think I may be able to eat too much at one time. I have a theory that my pouch isn't as swollen as most because I haven't thrown up since surgery, but I may be totally wrong about that. I think if I had a staple line disruption I would be having more problems - my surgeon transects the pouch from the stomach, so they would have had to heal back together... I have a two month follow up tomorrow so I am going to ask about it.

Hi Gina, I too have the same problem and have been for some time now. But I too make good food choices so it's not that bad. I'm going to my doc for my 3 month post op tomorow morning so I'll let you know what he says about this Ok Don't worry just keep eating the right foofds. Cheri

Gina, I wouldnt worry about it, I just figure that our stomachs have started healing and its no longer swollen so we can eat more. It was worrying me as well that I can eat more than 4oz at time, and I get hungry every 2 -3 hours, but I think as long as we make good food choices, we will be okay. If you are not experiencing problems, I doubt you have a staple line distruption. You've lost 43lbs sofar, and that is awesome ... keep it up!! Marlize

Gina, I have no idea the symptoms of that, but I doubt you have it. Some people just really are able to eat more. But I would be sure to mention it to the doc and if any pain happens, call the doc. Good luck! I'm two months out and we've lost right around the same amount. Hugs Kimberly
