Staple line distruption??
I will be 2 months out from surgery tomorrow and I have been extremely lucky to have had no problems after surgery. My concern is the amount of food I seem to be eating in one sitting. I can have on average 8 ounces of food without feeling uncomfortably full. I stop myself before the full feeling because I don't want to gain any of my weight back. I have so far lost 43 pounds which I know is good but it has been coming off rather slow and I feel the weight I am losing is due to my good food choices. I would like to hear from anyone who has had staple line distruption or anyone who feels they eat too much at one time. I am getting concerned that I may have something wrong. Thanks.
I saw your post on the main board and replied there, but I also think I may be able to eat too much at one time. I have a theory that my pouch isn't as swollen as most because I haven't thrown up since surgery, but I may be totally wrong about that. I think if I had a staple line disruption I would be having more problems - my surgeon transects the pouch from the stomach, so they would have had to heal back together...
I have a two month follow up tomorrow so I am going to ask about it.
Gina,
I wouldnt worry about it, I just figure that our stomachs have started healing and its no longer swollen so we can eat more.
It was worrying me as well that I can eat more than 4oz at time, and I get hungry every 2 -3 hours, but I think as long as we make good food choices, we will be okay.
If you are not experiencing problems, I doubt you have a staple line distruption. You've lost 43lbs sofar, and that is awesome ... keep it up!!
