Strictures anyone?

Has anyone had strictures? I started getting a stabbing pain Saturday, and then by Monday throwing up most of my food. Friday, I'm scheduled for endoscopy to determine if there is a stricture or an ulcer. The doctor I saw was pretty convinced it's a stricture. Has anyone else had this?

Hi Sandra. Yes, I had a stricture and ended up being admitted to the hospital 2 weeks ago. I ate something on a Friday night and it felt like it was stuck. I was unable to get any food or water down after that. By Monday it felt like whatever was stuck had passed but I was terribly nasseaus and was still not able to drink or eat anything. My doctor's office was unable to get me right in for a scope. By Thursday I was so sick and dehydrated that they had to admit me and get fluids in. They did the scope the next day and sure enough I had a stricture. The hole was completely closed except a small hole the size of a pin head. The scope was easy. My surgeon really sedated me well and I don't even remember it. They used a balloon to reopen the hole and then I was fine. It took me a little while to recooperate from being dehydrated but other than that I am fine now. If you are having trouble getting fluids in try popsicles. Good luck! I went today for endoscopy, and it was both a stricture and an ulcer. The whole procedure was really no big deal. I was so worried for nothing;) They were able to open the stricture and gave me meds for the ulcer. Now, I'm off to a nap. Thanks.

I had the same thing, stricture and ulcer. I felt better after the dilation and really started feeling good after 3 or 4 days. I think part of it was being dehydrated too. Enjoy your nap and feel better soon, Jenny
