THESE DARN HIPS!! AHHHHH!!!
Hey everyone,
I had surgery on July 18th and so far I've lost about 70 pounds. I have gone from 274 to 206. I should be excited because of the loss and I am but I have one MAJOR complaint! My HIPS!! I have gone from a size 24 to a size 18 (some 16s). I am losing weight from everywhere on my body except my hips. I could easily fit into a 16 and possibly a 14 by next week if I could just figure out how to get rid of these stinkin' hips!I can't find pants that fit right. They are all tight in the hips but when I turn around it looks like I have a load in my pants. Are any of you having this problem? I am doing Pilates and walking but so far these hips just won't DIE!!!
HELP HELP HELP!!!!
I'm sorry, but I'm cracking up at "when I turn around it looks like I have a load in my pants"
Ok, laughter aside--- OMG, are you kidding??? You've lost 70 pounds since surgery and you have the same surgery date as I do? And you were about the same weight as me too? And you're complaining?????? I started in 24's as well, and I can't even get into a 20 yet. I'm thinking that your hips are gonna be all excess skin if you keep on losing so fast, I'm serious!
I sure don't mean to sound rude and blunt. It hasn't even been 2 MONTHS since our surgery!!! Give it a chance! You didn't have liposuction, you had WLS, it's got to find somewhere to go before it goes. I am totally AMAZED at your progress!! Be patient hon!!!
Hi Jody.
I had surgery 10 days after you and have lost 38 pounds. 70 is absolutely amazing!
I am also loosing weight very strangly. My doctor says it is normal. It seems that I lost from my head down and my feet up but my middle region is taking longer. I am "hippie" anyway and tend to carry my weight there.
Hang in there. I think it will all catch up. The advise I have is to exercise as much as possible. It will help tighten the muscles and keep you have having too much hanging skin. I just started a water aerobics class and it is great. Try bike riding, too. That will really help with the hips.
Good luck!

ROFLOL!!! I thought I was the only one who felt that way about my "rear'" view!!! I too wear a 16 but it is tight in the hips. For me, though, it is about the excess skin "hanging" around in that region that bothers me.
Keep up the great work and soon, you won't even remember this little bump in the road!!

You guys are too funny. We all loose from different places. Usually the places we want to loose first we loose last. I lost in my face and chest. Like I needed that. My hips too are the biggest part of me. Than my belly. My goal is to have my stomach smaller than my boobs.
Now this 70 lbs in 2 months. What the heck are you doing to have lost so much. Did you loose before surgery? I lost 24 before surgery so I am down maybe 60 lbs. Girl.... You are doing great
Keep up the good work
On the jean question, try stretch jeans maybe that will fit better? It works for me.
hugs
Pam
Jody, I had my surgery July 26,05. I lost todate about 46 lbs. And I am not complaining about the lost at all. But I have not gone down any pant sizes yet. My hips won't move. My waist bands are so loose and my legs are very baggie, but my hips sitll fit in to the same damn pair of pants I went to the hospital in. If you find an answear please pass it on to me.
Thanks, Donna
