gas or something else?
I am about 6 1/2 weeks post op and am having a hard time getting well...anybody else? Today I have been having what feels like a deep pain in my gut, right in the middle of my abdomen. I feel like I have both gas in belching and the feeling of needing to belch as well as some gastro gas. Passing gas only helps for a few minutes and the pain is right back. When the gas eases up a bit, I feel "bruised", like I've been punched repeatedly in the stomach. Anybody have any clues? I did not think I was constipated and took some MOM, just in case, had one small BM that helped a little only. If I could just get my body back to normal I think I could feel so much better.....could any of this be caused by all of the vitamins? I have also tried a couple of doses of gas x with no relief.
Thanks!

Hi Teresa,
I'm not sure if what you're having is the same thing I'm having or not. But about 3 weeks ago, I was having such pains and I just felt miserable; really sick, I could hardly move. So I went to the ER. They did all sorts of tests, blood, urine, EKG, ultrasound, etc. and came up with NOTHING. They diagnosed it as gastritis. Funny thing, it went away then completely until this past Monday. I went in to see my surgeon for a checkup, and was telling him about my "episode". He prescribed another endoscopy to make sure I don't have an ulcer. (ugh) and get this- I got the pains back that night and have had them off and on for 2 days again. WTF? I have no idea what it is, but it seems to start in my intestines, on both sides. It doesn't really hurt- but it makes my abdomen super, super sensitive and I must lay down. I have a young child- I can't live like this! Also- if I am driving or sitting at the computer, I must sit up straight or it feels like I am bending over on my pouch. Very strange.
I don't think any of mine is gas or constipation as I don't seem to have issues with that (or, at least I know the symptoms- I have to take MOM about once a week). So I really don't know what is going on, and I don't know if it's the same as you, but I thought I'd share so we could kind of compare our symptoms I guess.

Michelle,
If you don't mind, please let me know what your doctor finds with the scope. I am beginning to wonder if I have a ulcer. I started back on the protonix I had quit taking previously thinking it was causing extreme nausea, now I think the nausea was from something else. I am hoping for some relief from the protonix until I hear back from the doc's office, they get in no hurry to call me back. Anybody know how long it takes for protonix to start working where you can feel a difference?
Thanks
Teresa
I had that in the beginning... they said "good your healing"...
Don't forget they had to cut through many layers. COuld be a little scar tissue pulling. Drink a lot of water to help push the gas and stool through.
I ate some Kashi and skim milk to help cleanse. I also massaged the area too help it mend.. Good luck but if your concerned call the doc and have them check it out..
