Has anyone been frustrated about the way all scales are different? My Dr.'s scale is 3 more pounds than mine and when I went to my surgeon for my 6 week checkup I was dissappointed when it showed 6 pounds higher than my scale at home!! I am beginning to think I should not look at the scale, but I am curious. What does anyone else think? Jennifer Uzarski

my surgeon has a digital scale and i just calibrate my scale to match his. Keep in mind that your weight will fluctuate throughout the day. I'm usually several pounds heavier at night then i am in the morning. Sometimes though it's just the reverse. I think because we're new we're hung up on scales. Soon we'll accept that we really are losing at a steady pace and we'll stop watching the scales and just start enjoying watching ourselves shrink.

Jennifer, I am very frustrated I weigh the least at home, eight more pounds at the YMCA (but I have my workout shoes and clothes on there); at my Doctors office I am usually 7 or 8 pounds higher, and at the Duke WLS office I am 4 over mine. So, I just go by mine but iknow that I officially weigh more. Pam

Pam - Are in actual Raleigh or the suburbs? I have family in Cary and I just love it out there. It is a wonderful place you live, close to the mountains and to the ocean. can not ask for much more, Nancy

We're right outside city limits in North Raleigh. I do love it here. Pam

Jennifer, I have the same problem. I decided to think more about home much I have lost than how much I weigh. I just weigh on my scale when I get home from the doctor's office. I then note how much I lose each week. I am hoping I will see the same total loss at his office. I don't go back for about 6 weeks, but I will see how this works out. The best part is other people are noticing I have lost a significant amount of weight, and my old tight clothes are too big. The old clothes that didn't fit at all now do. I love shopping in my own closet. Some of the "old clothes" are things I never wore, because they were too tight when I bought them. Right now I am very glad I didn't return them. Linda

Beleive it or not, I actually weigh a pound or three less on my doc's scale. I am using my scale, and my starting weight when I began the WLS journey. Scales are SO frustrating! Try to only weigh on ONE, except the doc's. I don't dare get on another scale! HUGS Kimberly

What I decided was to pick one scale and use it as my "standard". I have one at home, PCP, surgeon, and at school (I teach a medical science program so we have a scale). It was driving me crazy. So, I only use, as my official weight, the one at school. By the way... when I go in today I should record a loss of over 50 pounds!! I was 1 1/4 away on friday. We have to remember that this iis for the long haul and the numbers will flucuate daily... if not hourly! Good luck! ~Sue

My scale at home turned out not to be working. For the whole month of August it showed no loss and then when I went to my surgeon's office, their digital scale showed I had lost 8 pounds. So, I can't rely on my home scale right now and will only be weighed monthly at meetings. Tina
