I cured my constipation & weightloss shot up.
I had the same problem for the first 8 weeks since surgery, I was so constipated that I was only going to bathroom once a week and that was with a major laxative. Even though I was taking fiber everyday. My weighloss was quite slow, I was getting so flustered. Early last week I ate about a cup and half of good ol Raisin Bran (dry no milk) it took me awhile but it was a good snack and it sure tasted good. WELL, the next morning I went to the bathroom just like before sugery. I decided to eat more the next night and sure enough....well it's been a week and I've gone each day and I lost 5 pounds since last Sunday. I know this is probably too much information but I wanted to pass it along because there has to be people out there struggling with constipation and believe it or not, if you go, I truly believe it helps with weightloss.
I can't believe I can tolerate dry cereal but it's a God Send.

That was great advice! I have the same problem. I am a little over 6 weeks out and only go about once a week - also with a laxative. My doctor told me I could take peri-colace every day for a couple months until I get regular but I am afraid of getting "hooked" on it. I will try the raisin bran. What kind did you eat? I am worried about how much sugar raisin bran has.

I've been eating just good ole Post Raisin Bran. I feared the sugar too but I lost 5 pounds this week where I had only lost 5 pounds in the last 3 weeks prior. Needless to say, my fear was unjustified. Obviously, I wouldn't eat it all day long, but since you're going more often, you're gretting rid of the majority of the cereal (I would imagine anyway).
I hope it works for you, sure beats a medication or laxative.
