I had the same problem for the first 8 weeks since surgery, I was so constipated that I was only going to bathroom once a week and that was with a major laxative. Even though I was taking fiber everyday. My weighloss was quite slow, I was getting so flustered. Early last week I ate about a cup and half of good ol Raisin Bran (dry no milk) it took me awhile but it was a good snack and it sure tasted good. WELL, the next morning I went to the bathroom just like before sugery. I decided to eat more the next night and sure enough....well it's been a week and I've gone each day and I lost 5 pounds since last Sunday. I know this is probably too much information but I wanted to pass it along because there has to be people out there struggling with constipation and believe it or not, if you go, I truly believe it helps with weightloss. I can't believe I can tolerate dry cereal but it's a God Send. Janice 260/210/145? -50 lbs

You're welcome. I hope it works for you too, sure tastes a heck of a lot better than mineral oil or milk of magnesia.

That was great advice! I have the same problem. I am a little over 6 weeks out and only go about once a week - also with a laxative. My doctor told me I could take peri-colace every day for a couple months until I get regular but I am afraid of getting "hooked" on it. I will try the raisin bran. What kind did you eat? I am worried about how much sugar raisin bran has. Shellie

I've been eating just good ole Post Raisin Bran. I feared the sugar too but I lost 5 pounds this week where I had only lost 5 pounds in the last 3 weeks prior. Needless to say, my fear was unjustified. Obviously, I wouldn't eat it all day long, but since you're going more often, you're gretting rid of the majority of the cereal (I would imagine anyway). I hope it works for you, sure beats a medication or laxative.

Thanks for the tip Janice. This has been my worst problem since surgery. Did you experience any dumping or sickness from the raisens? Did you eat it at one sitting? I'm definitely buying some raisen bran today.

I haven't had any dumping whatsoever from the raisins. Just remember to chew really good. Yes it's is one sitting but that is about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes so it's not too bad. It's a lifesaver for me. Good Luck!
