Loving Watermelon

Hi All, I am sad to see the the summer coming to an end because I have been able to keep watermelon down really well and it is so refreshing and sweet. I literally drink the water out of the fruit. I can get down a good amount at a time and it also seems to help me move my bowels. I remember when I was like 2 weeks out (that was the first time I had a major watermelon craving) I try to get some when ever I can now. I hope and pray that it does not hinder my weight loss, I have been dealing with lots of regret over the surgery so I think I should allow myself something that I want every once in a while. I am determined to not make this surgery feel like a punishment for being fat. I seem to be having a problem with feeling like I am no longer in control of what I can and can't eat long term. Almost like I am being smothered, maybe someone can offer some words of encouragement. Well I just wanted to share that with you all as it may be a good snack for someone else!

Hi LeemLeem- I can relate to ur craving watermelon!!! My doc has not allowed starches, fruits or veggies yet, but today I will finally have my diet advanced to everything, and watermelon is on eof the first things i'm getting! I'm hoping it helps my bowel problem as well. It is my favorite fruit! I'm sorry ur having regrets about ur surgery, but i'm sure as the weight comes off more and more u will feel the benfits of it. I think it is such a major life adjustment for us all, and it is ceratinly a learnig process of eating again. For myself, i've had to learn to focus on nutritional labels and think about what i'm putting in my body. I dont feel like it a punishment, cuz i do feel we'll be able to eat everything again at some point, just in much smaller quantites(except for the sweets!). I think these first few months are so hard, and we have to jsut take it one day at a time, otherwise it can be overwhelming. Email me if u ever want to talk, and hope u start to feel better Hugs, Pam

Oh thanks! I have not been near a Slurpee Machine in years. Wow, I had no idea they actually had diet slurpees now. I will try it cause I am having trouble getting all of my fluids in. Also to Pam, thanks for your response. I hope the watermelon does the trick for you for going to the bathroom. Make sure you get seedless or jus****ch out for the seeds, my doc says they can get stuck. I am going to go on a watermelon hunt tommorow because alot of them sold out over labor day weekend. I will take u op on emailing you. Pam? the part of PA you live in, how far is that from Philly? Talk with yall soon. Fruit really becomes your new best friend. I hope you tolerate it well. I really love the fact that it has so much water in it. I want some right now
