How is everyone getting in their calcium? I must admit that I have not been getting in my calcium for several weeks. I tried calcium cirate powder but it tastes gritty like rock powder. I tried it in juice and applesauce but it ruined both. I also tried a chewable calcium wafer but it was so BIG! It was almost like a MEAL! Anyone find a good tasting liquid or small capsule? Help, Nicole

My surgeon told me to take Tums with Calcium. They know it's not Citrate but they said it was good so I got the flavored Tums and eat a couple a day which is easy because it feels like I have heartburn a lot anyway.

Do we absorb the calcium in tums? I would love to just take those but my doctor says it has to be citrate. What does yours say about citrate? Pam W

My doc prefers citrate but if carbonate is what we can take (viactiv, chews, Tums) then go with that. The most important thing is to take it (in their opinion)

Jenn gave the perfect response to your question Pam. That's what my doc said too.

Nicole, I take Caltrate 600 plus D....they are chewables, and in fruit flavors which don't taste bad at all. I bought them at Wal Mart. HTH, Sharon

I get chewable calcium citrate at Whole Foods. I was told to take the chewables for a few months before switching to capsules. Solaray makes a 1000mg chewable that tastes okay. i cut it in half and take 500mg twice a day. (you can't absorb more than 500mg at a time and it can't be within an hour of taking iron.) i know a few people who are getting enough calcium through dairy products but it's hard to get that much without eating a lot of fat so you have to be careful if you go that route.

Whole Foods, is that the grocery store chain? I would like to get the chewable citrate. I just took two capsules of calcium citrate. I was emptying the capsules in a protein drink but it was really yucky, even after I blended it in my magic blender. Pam
