OK - I went grocery shopping on Friday and was desperate to find another protein source. I'm not doing meat very well yet and I'm tired of drinks. Anyway...I found a new protein diet bar that is just to die for, I'm going back for more tomorrow. They are the South Beach Diet Cinnamon Raisin cereal bars. I was so shocked when I took my first bite. I have been buying the slim-fast low carb breakfast bars and thought they were yummy. They are good but not as good as the SBD bars. The have 10g of protein, 5g of fat and 12 carbs. Not too bad considering the taste. The slim-fast bars have 14g of protein and about the same everything else but they are about $7.00 for a box where the SBD bars were only $2.98 for a box. I know which I will be buying from now on. What is everyone else eating for protein? I've also been eating imitation crab and yogurt. Gotten tired of chili and looking for other ideas that's not meat.

Those sound yummy. I'm back on liquids and soft food for a bit after a stricture but I can't wait to try them. (Okay, truth be told, I can't wait to crunch again, but those do sound good). To get my protein in, I've been doing a lot of tuna, eggs and cheese. I add cheese to almost everything to add protein. At wor****ep parmesan cheese in my drawer and add that to some of the lower carb soups. Prior to the diagnosis of the stricture I was eating a lot of soup just because it went down well. Thanks for the tip... I'll pick up some of those bars tonight.

Have you tried the Stallone puddings? Yes as in Sylvester Stallon I got my current box from GNC but someone said that they are really cheap on drugstore.com. Each can has 20 grams of protein and something like 100 calories and either no sugar or two grams. I do not have a box handy but I have been eating a half a can twice a day to get that protein in Good luck everyone, Nancy

Cheri - I think that they are fat free, may have one or two grams of fat, I can not remember. They are so worth everything they have in them!! Good luck, Nancy

I eat lots of 2% cottage cheese. I put sliced peaches (canned) in with it. It is very good. I also buy the cracker barrel cheese snacks, extra sharp cheddar 2%. They are in a bag, and each serving, 1 oz, is wrapped individually. They are great to grab for a snack to go, or , whatever. I know it probably isnt good to eat so much cheese, (I also get the Polly twist ums string cheese) but I have always been a cheese lover. I am doing well with the 2%, which is a big step for me. I cannot do the cheddar at 2% unless it is extra sharp. good luck, Pam

I get my best source of protein from plain old skim milk. It has 8 grams of protein per serving, and I probably drink about 5 cups a day which works out to be 40...I am suppose to get in 70 grams a day, so this helps alot. In the morning I use the carnation SF instant breakfast french vanilla flavor which has 5 grams of protein per packet. I tried a frozen shrimp meal but had the worst time chewing the shrimp enough...and I also don't tolerate the pasta too well yet, so the rest of it got thrown out. I did have a poached egg today and a half a slice off toast, dipped the toast in egg and the toast went down pretty well for the first time. Is there any type of protein drink that is more the consistancey of juice than the grittiness that most are like? Mandie

Amanda I like isopure I get mine at the Vitamen shop GNC has it also, it's premixed, I like the orange frost mixed with CL Sunlight juice to take the after taste away. Each 20 oz has 40 grams of protein. I drink 1 a day. So far they are the best for me and they count toward your fluid requirement. Lori

I have heard about isopure, but I do not know much about it...Is "Isopure" the brand name? Does it come in a 20 oz size? Is it a juice (water) consistancy? How much does it cost? I would love to try something different, but after trying the Designer Whey products and not liking them at all, I am hesitant to try anything before I buy it. As a patient of Barix I can get the stuff they sell, it is very good but also very pricey at $40 for the liquid or powder versions, I think I am just going to have to get some. Maybe I can just have one "shake" a day and get the rest of protein from the skim milk like I have been. Mandie

Mandi I paid 29.00 at the vitamen shop for a case of 12 (all 1 flavor) I bought the orange frost and the grape. I mix the orange with CL orange and I mix the grape with sugar free cran grape juice (I am allowed 1/2 cup fruit juice so I divide the grape in half and add a 1/2 c per serving) The stuff is clear colored the consitancy of juice. It is pricey per bottle at 3.something for a bottle. A bottle is 20 oz. I drink 1 per day (and the nice thing is once open if kept in the fridge it doesn't loose it's protein power.) So I have Orange in the AM and grape in the Pm for variety. it comes in other flavors like raspberry, mango orange (which is absolutly awful) and apple and fruit punch (not too bad) didn't try the other 2 flavors. Believe me I understand, I have bought so much stuff and ended up tossing it because it made me live and learn I guess. Good Luck Talk to ya soon Lori
