Pregnancy after Rny Surgery

I have recently gotten into a relationship with someone. I have 2 wonderful boys ages 14 and 6. I thought I was done having anymore children. However, I have since met the most wonderful man who loves me for me, fat or thin . I am thinking about having a child with him. Now, I heard you should atleast wait until 2 years after surgery. I can also understand why you should wait. Now, my question is how safe is it even after 2 years? Has anyone out there had children post-op? I am only 6 weeks post-op, however, I am really looking into my future. I know I have 2 years to think about it, but I am anxious, and excited all at once.

Michelle- Some people have this surgery because they want to get pregnant and can't. So yes you CAN have children safely after the surgery. I am not planning on more kids...but I know my Doctor said to wait a year to 18 months. Mostly until your weight is stable. My SIL is currently pregnant after WLS. She said it's really weird how she is able to eat more now. Her baby seems to be growing just fine. And she has talked to others who have delivered post op and they said that the being able to eat more almost magically goes away a few days after delivery. Linda

My neice had a baby 18 months after WLS and she said that it was the healthiest pregnancy due to not having the excess weight to carry with the baby. Talk to your surgeon or OBGYN. Good Luck on new relationship. Sarah
