LOSING HAIR ALREADY!!!!!!
I tried so hard not tobelieve I would lose my hair but I am. Everytime I get out of the shower it'starts to come out. All i have to do is brush my hair and the brush is full. Even if I run my fingers threw it, it comes out too. I'm trying not to get to worried about it but I LOVE my hair. Being fat all your life you need to love something about yourself and it's my hair!! I drink alot of fluids, all my protien and my vitamins. What else can I do?
Worried, Cheri
P.S.I had my surgery July 6th.that's what almost 8 weeks out now.
Cheri--I FEEL your PAIN!!! I already have such thin hair. If I start losing I'll go bald. Go to the OVER 50 Forum and post a question on what to do. Those ladies have LOT of really great advice. I do remember reading that someone's doctor told to them to eat a hand full of nuts each day and that would help prevent it. I don't know if it works, but I am doing that. I wish I could be of more help.

Cheri-
I know it's horrible-- Mine is starting too, but I don't notice it only in the shower. Just remember IT IS TEMPORARY. This happens to woman who are pregnant. My nutritionist says it partly to do with the estrogen that is stored in our fat cells.
I asked my hair stylist, and he says if you get VERY self conscious to play with your part. Parting your hair a different way will make it look fuller.
Hang in there sweetie! :HUGS:
Cheri-
I have 2 sisters that do hair and both say that its kind of early to be losing hair from the surgery. 1 sis does hair for Vidal Sassoon and the other is a master stylist.
Remember that everyone loses about 100 hairs per day as part of the normal shedding cycle. It could be taht maybe you are more sensitive about it now. Also, anesthesia can make it come out a little more than usual.
Keep taking your vitamins, protein and H2O. This can only help. One of my sister's recommended that I take Procosa (a hair vitamin which can be purchased at The Vitamin Shoppe) or Nexxus makes a hair vitamin also that you can get at the beauty supply stores.
Hopefully, this will help. Any yes, don't worry-it is temporary!

Hi Ladies,
I want to thank you all for your suggestions and support. I don't know what I'd do without this board and the good people on it. I'm going to try the nuts. Only 1 question though? What king of nuts? Aren't they fattning?
Thanks again, I will ask the doc and up my protien and vitamins too. It can't hurt, right?

Eeeeek Cheri!
I went into my stylist just before surgery and had her put a protein treatment on my hair. After she put my hair in a ponytail and had me leave it in overnight and then just rinse in the morning. I was planning on having her do another one soon. You, like me will probably have to be extra careful since you have color-treated hair. Definately don't do any coloring or hi-lites for a while!! My stylist knows how I hate my grays and roots and warned me ahead of time to not even ask for any color for at least 8-10 weeks because she wouldn't do it. Oh....and keep your hair out of the pool......the pool chemicals will weaken your already stressed hair too.
Everything else for me is going great though..... 5 weeks out and down 32 lbs! So far I can eat pretty much everything with no trouble. I don't think we could have had a better surgeon than Dr. Bell. I am still amazed every day at how quickly I bounced back from this surgery.

Sue and Lynn,
I'm going to order the biotin ASAP.(GO TO THE GNC) and Sue you are so right. I did color my hair and it's been coming out since. I will not do it again. I too hate the grsays It shows my age LOL I stayed away from the pool and chemicals though.
