What the heck is wrong with me.. and why the heck can't I get control these last few days!!!!! I am so ashamed.. I didn't get this surgery to mess things up.. Hi Maya, I don't know what to say to you except to ask you what kind of surgery did you have? I could'nt get that much food in me if I wanted too. Believe me I wish I could but I choose not to anymore. This surgery is only a tool. A too lto help you in the long run how to eat right and stat away from foods that are a no-no for us. There are probably alot of foods out there that I could probably eat or try to eat but that's not the reason I had this surgery. It was to help me get started to a new healthy way of life. The only thing I can suggest is that you think of how hrd you worked to have this surgery and what it's like to you to be obese. I know that Im hated being so fat. 31 lbs. is nothing to be ashamed of either. It's better than gaining. Think about it ok Cheri

Maya, Hi there. We have the same surgery date!! I read your post and had to respond. You really should talk to your surgeon or dietician about this. Sounds like you could have stretched your pouch prematurely. I could not even dream of eating that much. I can only eat about 2-3 oz at a time. It is hard to control your cravings especially after eating the way we used to eat. I just try to get my mind off of food and concentrate on the real reason I did this. To lose weight and become a healthier person. Good Luck.

Hi Maya- First, don't feel ashamed. There is nothing to feel ashamed about. You are trying something different. Were you expecting not to be able to eat that much? Were you expecting to feel nauseous and vomit? I suspect that you were testing the boundaries of your new "stomach". Everyone has days where they can eat more than on other days. Most days I can barely tolerate a regular meal (about 2-3 ozs of fish, chicken or beef) If I am eating a yogurt, I can knock back an 8 oz container like nothing. It depends on what you are eating. I would also look at head hunger vs. actual hunger. Did you eat the taco because you didn't want to waste it? Because dbf brought it to you? Did you eat the "slice" of pizza for any of the same reasons. Were you actually hungry? If you take the alotted 20-30 minutes, you might find that it would all fit in....................I do agree with Cheri and check with your surgeon to make sure nothing else is going on. Remember too, that this is a tool........you still need to make good food choices, drink the water, eat the protein and exercise. Don't worry.......this is manageable. You are doing fine! Keep up the good work from all of the other days. ((((many hugs)))) Anjanette

Anjanette, Thanks so much for the supportive response!.. Thanks to everyone.. No my pouch isn't stretched.. because I am very content with 2 oz of yogurt.. i just don't know what came over me.. Yes I didnt want to waste it..it was sitting in front of my face.. at first I couldnt eat it all..then when I felt better I returned to give it another try.. its horrible but the truth.. im no longer in denial..which is why I had RNY.. I agree.. I think it is head hunger.. but I am having a good day today.. and will try to have only good days from now on.. I am just so grateful to have all of you guys here.. because I can vent all I want to my friends.. and even obese friends.. but they can't understand unless they been through what we are going through.. Thanks for the encouraging words.. I am recomitting myself right now.. on this post lol.. to stay focussed and not forget all that lead me on this path.. thanks guys!

Gosh, Maya, isn't it amazing how conditioned we are to go right to "shame" when it comes to food! Thin people indulge from time to time, and no one makes them feel ashamed! I think it's a fact of life that we're all going to slip on occassion. Hopefully, those occassions are now fewer and farther between. I think it's good to look at it from a perspective of balance and not blame. I also think it's important for us to have the things we love now and then, in moderation. Contant deprivation can lead to disaster. Obviously, we need to replace any old behaviors that got us into trouble, but if you're following your program 90% or more of the time, well, that's pretty darn super. Good luck! PS - Maybe you could make a pact with your dbf not to bring those sorts of foods into your orbit for now, so the temptation is removed.

We had the same surgery date. I have only lost 29lbs. as of today. So you are not off track. I eat very little of anything because I really have no interest in food. So it isn't the amount we are eating or not eating. As for your "guilt".........let it go. It was just one of those "moments" and it has passed. So be it! Remember..............we are on a journey. Some days will be rocky and some days will be smooth. We are all bound to make some bad choices along the way because NONE OF US ARE PERFECT! Sandy

Guilty of the same- I picked off the top of a slice of pizza. The taco bell tacos are not that big- I was able to eat about 1/2 of a gordito crunch once at a mealtime. I do not feel ashamed! I did adjust what else I ate that day and made sure I got the fluids in and ate healthier. YOUR LOSING- you have cut down!!! The problem is limiting. I could probably eat all day long a little at a time. I try to plan 3 MEALS at set times. That is a challenge. So 6 little meals is not bad as long as you remember you have to eat for nutrition. If your drinking with meals- you can probably pass food through the pouch and nt remain full for a couple hours. It is a learning experience. At least you know you can control.
