On labels, you see sugar alcohol listed instead of sugar. I have researched enough to know that sugar alcohol has less calories than sugar and also takes long to digest so it is better for your body. Does any one know of a "magic number" to watch for sugar alcohol? (For instance, my doctor recommends not eating anything with more than 2 g of sugar.) Thanks for your help! All i know is it affects different people differently. And different sugar alcohols can have a different effect. I dump on most sugar alcohols but some are okay, other people i know can't handle any of them and some people seem to have no trouble.

My nutritionist said to not let sugar grams go over 10 that is both combined or individual and I have had no problem. 7 weeks down lost 51 lbs

I have found that sugar alcohols will make me sick the next day (rumbly in my tummy). I have found that foods with the label "No Sugar Added" are ok but "Sugar Free" usually means that they have addd the sugar alcohols for the flavor. I don't mean to sound gross or go into any graphics, but sugar alcohols keep me in the bathroom for a good part of the day after I have consumed them. Sugar alcohols will clean you out! Mandie

Hi MaryAnne, My nutritionist said to count sugar alcohol as half. For example if it has 10 grams of sugar alcohol, it is the same as 5 gr of sugar. I was told to only eat products with 10 grams of sugar or less. Hope that helps, Linda
