Why no caffiene?Anybody know?
Different surgeons have different requirements - mine says one cup of coffee OK (or a cup of green tea) is OK, but no ice tea! Caffine is a direritic (or however that's spelled) -- makes you pee. This makes your kidneys and liver work harder and they are already on overload because of trying to eliminate the extra wastes in the blood from weight loss. Also, coffee can be hard on stomachs. The tea in general limitation is because it can be a factor in kidney stone formation. Anyway, I'm like the others, a small cup of black coffee with a bit of ho****er added isn't going to hurt you as long as you are getting your full 64 oz of fluid otherwise. I haven't had any yet because my tummy says it isn't ready for cofee yet and I have only made the 64 goal once since surgery!
Hi Ladies,
I want to thank you all for your advice. I've been without this long I'm sure it won't kill me to stop all together, RIGHT?
P.S. I know this may sound stupid but what is a dieretic? I do drink all my liquids, is there too much water you could drink? I'd rather drink than eat. That includes my protien drink too. I get in all my protien too. Thanks again ladies.

My spelling is really bad. I just looked up the spelling like I should have in the first place and the word I was trying for was "diuretic" which means "tending to increase the flow of urine". (Copied and pasted def. while I was at it in case it wasn't just my whacky spelling that made the word unfamiliar.) For whatever it is worth, diuretic drugs are given to some high-blood pressure patients and to people with congestive heart failure to force their bodies to eliminate more fluids and thus reduce the work the heart has to do. Basicly it is making their kidney's work extra hard; something ours are already doing trying to get rid of wastes from burning fat. There are other foods that are diuretics besides caffiene; I'm pretty sure the list includes tea, alcoholic beverages, lemon and for some reason celery sticks in my head!
