Are you getting all your protein? I know it sounds crazy but I was having trouble last weekend and early the first part of this week. I knew I wasn't getting everything in I needed and have been making a diligent effort to get my protien in and WOW it has made a difference.

Finally!!! A post about us slower losers. It is hard to read the ones about "I lost 50 pounds in 2 weeks"-whew. I know everyone is different, and I am content with my 30 pounds in 5 weeks, because it is slowly going down, and as long as it does, I am okay. A big factor is that I am walking almost everyday now, and I know that will help. Let's all be patient and realize some of us just go slower-but it will be off just the same...and 20 pounds in3 1/2 weeks is almost 6# a week avg. Luci

Hi Marlene, I can relate. For me the biggest change has been how my relationship with food has changed. I am an emotional eater and even though I chose the surgery there is a big part of me that really misses my "best friend" food. I weighed 392 lbs. for a reason. Even though I am starting to feel better - there are times when I want to eat to feel apart of the group or eat something "fun" and I can't. I get bummed. It helps me to focus on how healthy I am getting. I try to remember that it took a while to gain the wait and it will certainly take a while to lose it. I don't know what I would do without these message boards! Keep the faith, it WILL GET BETTER!

Hi Marlene! I am a slow loser too. But you are losing! I was taking antidepressants before surgery. I am taking them now. My PCP said I can get off them but he would rather have me on for about 3 months and then slowly take me off. It helps to have a supportive family and friends. Don't push your friends away! They've been with you before surgery and might be a great help now. Spend as much time outside (walking) as you can. Sunshine is helpful! Don't be hard on yourself. You are not alone. Good luck to you!

Sweetie it will take time, but one thing I have notice is this, when people up their protein intake either in food or in protein shakes they start to lose mega amounts of weight. Also be sure to exercise. From all that I have read the most successful weight losers (is that even a word?) are the ones one high protein AND exercising, even if it's walking. Keep that chin up gal, you will be a LOSER in no time...you know this is one time we all like to called losers huh?
