I think I messed up big! :'(
Hi everyone,
I have been doing really well so far. Most of my food choices have been tuna or chicken salad, soups, cottage cheese, oat meal and so on. Today I decided to have a chicken breast. I thought it would be ok if I chewed really well. Unfortunately, it has been 3 hours since I've eaten and I feel very sick. It almost feels like I'm going to hurl but it won't come out. Has anyone else experienced this? Did I not chew thoroughly enough? Please advise.
Thanks!
Hi Mary! I had the EXACT same problem! I have no problem with tuna salad, chicken salad, cottage cheese, or oatmeal, but when I tried chicken on a bone, my body had the same reaction a yours. I felt sick for about 4 hours, took a nap, and felt better when I woke up. It will pass, I promise. And, I know this is against all rules, but perhaps take small sips of water inorder to pass the chicken through your system a bit faster.
Sincerely, Diane
Hi Mary-
Wow-who would have thought that something as benign as chicken could cause a whole gaggle of people so much trouble!!
when I make chicken, I can only eat it the night is was cooked, unless I am making chicken salad. The key for me (and I also learned this the hard way) is that it has to be SUPER moist!! When it is fresh from the oven, it is juicy and tender. If I am out with friends or family, I must ask for some low cal salad dressing or I bring some from home. I just dip the chicken in the dressing to keep it moist. This way, no chance of me getting something stuck. So far, it has worked like a charm.
For this method, I use Walden Farms dressings (no sugar, no carbs) and I get it at a couple of the specialty grocery stores here in No. Ca. They also have a website where you can order a whole bunch of different things. I haven't had a bad product from them!! (www.waldenfarms.com)
I hope that this helps!!
Have a great day!

I thought I was the only one having problem with chicken. I start to feel sick or vomit an hour or 2 later after eating chicken. I have now stopped eating chicken. I mainly eat soups because it has been the only thing that agrees with my stomach. Otherwise I get sick. I am a month out and it bothers me that I can't follow the diet program given to me by my dietician. I am supposed to be on raw veggies but those won't stay down either. I go to the doctor next week and I am going to discuss it with him.
Hi Mary, I had the same problem as you, but after getting sick with chicken, I started getting sick every time I ate anything solid. I called my Dr. and it turns out that my esophagus had closed up to the size of a drinking straw, maybe smaller. I had a scope done last Thursday, and the Dr. re-opened it to 15cm. I feel much better now. I am able to try different foods. I hope things work out for you. God Bless you.
