what are some of the things you eat or drink to get your daily protein in? Myself, I have found some sugar free bread that has 6 grams of protein in it, and I will put a slice of 2% cheese on it after I toast it, worth 4 grams of protein then I spread about 2oz of tuna on it worth about 12 grams of protein.... so there is 20-22 grams of protein. I have this about 2x a day I also have a Atkins shake usually for breakfast, it has 20 grams of protein and only 4 grams of carbs... or I will have a omlet(2 eggs) with either 2 cheese sticks(14 grams of protein) or 2 slices of 2% cheese(8 grams of protein) which my daughter usually eats half of this for me. for snacks, I usally will eat 2 cheese sticks(14 grams of protein) or a atkins bar(15-20 grams of protein) and for supper I have a meat and a couple of veggies

Hi Tonya! Be careful with all that cheese. First, it can be really constipating. Second, it is loaded with fat and adds up quickly. Have you tried out www.fitday.com ? You can log everything that you eat, and it is a real eye opener. Before surgery, I used to take 4 slices of that wrapped American cheese for a snack, who woulda thunk that it was 29g of fat in that snack!! More than I allow myself now for a whole day! Fat free or low fat cottage cheese is really good. Chicken breast with no skin is about 25g per 3 oz. I also make my Unjury protein drink with 1 and a half scoops- that's 30g protein. Milk also has high protein (fat free if you can stand it) You can also get protein enriched pudding, and you can make jello jigglers adding some unflavored protein powder to it. String cheese is good too, I get the lower fat version. HTH.

Tonya- I also like Fat free refried beans with a tiny bit of cheese on it. (oops...more cheese! ) I also like deli meats (thinly sliced) alone or rolled up with cheese. I like this topic...I am hoping to get more protein ideas. Don't you feel like it's a constant search for how to get in my protein!? I do! How far along until you can have protein bars? My Dr. says at 7 weeks I can try just about anything. So I am guessing then? I am hoping so- because this will help at work sometimes- I am thinking 1/2 a bar would be an ok snack at work? Has anyone tried one yet? How far out were you? And how did it go. Linda

Hi Tonya, I usually have a cup of protein supplement when I get up in the morning. I ordered these from Bariatriceating.com. I have the cafe mocha, chocolate mint & perfect chocolate. Each have about 23 grams of protein per scoop & taste great. I drink them with ho****er instead of cold. I usually have an egg(6g) or half pkg of instant crm of wheat made with 4oz of 1% milk(4g). Sometimes I melt a slice of cheese in the egg to get more protein(3g). For lunch I have had refried beans w/a little ground beef in it(about 4g in 2oz) & an oz of melted 75% lite Cabot cheddar cheese(8g). I've also had baked talapia(fish) with I can't believe it's not butter sprayed on it. (14g in 2oz) w/steamed yellow squash. Afternoon snack is usually an ounce or two of lite cheese (16g) or a cup of protein(23g). In the evening I try to have whatever protein I'm fixing for my family if possible. I've pureed bits of chicken with brn. gravy & mashed potatoes w/brn gravy.(about 2oz chick. = 14g)

I drink at least two shakes a day, with Designer Whey from GNC. That is 21 grams of protein (2x) and the milk adds an additional 8-9 grams for about 30 grams a shake. I also have some high protein food, such as tuna or shrimp pureed in my blender (i am still on pureed foods), or some cheese melted. that's it right now. I haven't tried eggs or anything like that yet. I can't STAND atkins shakes....

Tonya try a drink called Isopure. It is a fruit flavored drink tastes kinda like kool-aid. 0 carbs but in the 20 oz bottle is 40 grams of protien. It is available at GNC. My favorite flavor is the grape.

Yeah, the Isopure has really helped me with my protein intake. I've only tried the punch flavor, but have heard alot of people say the grape is good. 40 grams is awesome!
