oh man i was at the store today and looked at the shrimp but didn't dare get any. i'm such a freak for shrimp. hubby and i would eat almost a pound of shrimp in one night. now you know why i needed surgery, lol!!!! i bought some icecream today, no sugar and like 4g of fat. i haven't tried it yet. i really don't have the taste for sweets, i want FOOD. like a nice hot plate of spagetti and meatballs, lol. i had mash potatoes, meat loaf and green beans for dinner. it went pretty good. i didn't really feel full and some of the meatloaf got like stuck in my throat i had to just spit it out but overall good. it was a healthy choice dinner. i bought some stuff to try enchilada this weekend. never made them but looks like something easy to eat, lol. wish me luck!!! maria
Maria, I just got back from a 2 week vacation in Hawaii. The day before we left (4 Aug) was supposed to be the end of my "puree period"; however I had moved from pureed to soft to "regular but well chewed" food. While in Hawaii, I ate pretty much anything that I wanted (and still lost 8 pounds in the 2 weeks). I've only have 3 or 4 incidents where I either ate too much, too fast, or for some reason food didn't agree. I'm one of the "lucky" ones because sugar doesn't appear to make me dump nor does fried foods. The hardest part was the fruit (I love pineapple). I chew the fruit until only the "pulpy" bits were left and spit those bits out. I've had very little problem with meats ~ have had everything except veal and lamb (I'm not a big fan of either of those). The biggest problem that I had was that we ate out for almost every meal and the waiter/waitress would assume that I didn't like my food ~ I had to constantly answer the question, "Do you not like your meal?" I'm 6 1/2 weeks out, open RNY, and down 42 pounds. I know that I'm not getting in as much protein as I should (and I'll work on that now that I'm back on my "home turf"). I even had a couple of small bites of a donut and some awesome cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. The thing I'm most scared about is salad (and I've been craving a good salad). I've had a few bites of lettuce and chewed and chewed and chewed.
Best of luck,
Maria
