13 days out
It seems as though (for me) it isn't worth giving up the liquid for the time I'm supossed to which is 1/2 hours before I eat and 45 min to eat and 1 1/2 hour after I eat, in order to eat 2 tablespoons of puree food. Any input on if would be OK to drink protein and liquids only for this 4 week period I'm in.At the 5 th week I go to ground meat and soft veg. and up it to 4 tablespoons. I am to limit the liquid input to 4 ounces an hour I think thats including protein liquids and theres just know was to get it all in and fast liquids for the eating time. Please give me some input. Thanks Cil
It is my understanding that you don't have to wait the alotted time while in pureed foods because they pass through the pouch rather quickly. Puddings and yogurst pass within seconds. Think of your new pouch as a funnel, liquidy foods pass through slower than water but still fast. Now...as you know, once you start on more solid foods you will need to wait. Getting in fluids is very important at this point in recovery. Check with your doctor for sure.
Congrats on being on the losing side.
Priscilla,
I'm one day different than you and I'm on the puree foods to and when I was on the liquids I was told to drink all the time even with the liquid proteins it was okay to drink all the time.
Now that I'm on the next stage I am told to wait 15min. before I eat and wait only 30min after I can drink again as my DR. says it's okay after 30 min. to drink again. So I'm doing good with this. Every Dr. is different. I'm not waiting 45-1 hour to drink again because I'm to thirsty. But I think it was with more solid foods to do this with. I did eat Salmon as it's on my list to eat so I took it real slow and only ate real moist pieces and chewed it real good. Even if I have just cottege cheese and yorgrt I still wait for the 30 min. to drink again. I don't want to hurt my pouch or get sick. Like today I drank my protien shake to fast and I did not feel good for about 20min. This is all trial and error for all of us. I'm pretty lucky and Blessed as I have had know problem with everything I've tried with no bad reaction so far. Anyway I hope this helps.
