Lightweight question!
Ok- First I can't believe anyone considers me a "lightweight". But apparently as weight loss surgery patients go - I am a lightweight.
My current BMI is 42.7. Pre-op diet I lost 11 lbs in 2 weeks.
When I got home from the hospital- I had regained 10 of the 11 lbs. I am guessing because of the IV and stuff. (I was on the IV for almost 3 days and one of those they really pushed fluids- long story).
I am now 11 days out from my surgery and I have re-lost the 10 lbs plus 8 lbs.
I am wondering if I am doing something wrong? Don't ya'll think that seems like not much? Eight lbs in 11 days doesn't seem like that much to me. Or is this a normal amount, you think, for a lightweight?
Do you think re-loosing the fluids had an effect?
I don't know what to think?! I would love some feedback from you guys.

Linda,
Do not be dicouraged. Everyone loses weight differently. I gained weight in the hospital too. Then in the first 10 days I lost 20lbs. Since day eleven I have only lost 4 more. It will come off. I was really starting to be discouraged but I see inches coming off still. Even though I have only lost 4 more lbs Ii have gone down in clothes sizes very weird. Keep up the good work. Oh by the way I am almost 4 weeks post op now.

But I'm confused, haven't you lost 18#? Forget whatever you lost before surgery, now is what counts!
Granted, you might lose a little slower than those of us "heavyweights", but, then again, you might pass us all! All that matters is that you are getting your protein, vitamins, and fluid in - the weight WILL come off! It didn't take you two weeks to put it on - it might take a little longer than two weeks to take it off!

Darla-
It's hard to convey stuff on boards. I wasn't "super" upset about this. I was just a tad disappointed. At the time I posted this- I felt I had only lost 8 lbs in "almost 2 weeks" due to surgery. And I felt a bit like for as little as I was eating shouldn't I have lost more than 8 lbs. (I lost 11 lbs in two weeks eating a heck of a lot more and without any pain!....KWIM?)
Also, everyone says that week 3 is often a plateau (sp?)...so I was feeling a bit like- all that pain, no solid food and 8 lbs!!!
I am still happy... And I know this is just the beginning. I was just not sure if this was normal for someone my size. Or if I was just going to be a super slow looser.

I'm so glad that you posted this. I'm sitting here really bummed out because I feel like I'm not losing enough. I started at 267 and lost 26 pounds pre-surgery. Day of surgery weight 241, first week post op lost 7. Then in weeks 2 & 3 lost 7 for a total of 14. I was so expecting to be down more. I'm trying to enjoy the fact that I'm in the 220's for the first time in as long as I can remember, but can't help feeling disappointed. I'm just a little more than 3 weeks out, so maybe in another week or so I'll see another jump.
Keeping my fingers crossed,
Lynn
