How is everyone doing today? I am officially three weeks post op today, and feeling pretty good except a little tired. I am becoming really discouraged since I have not lost a pound in over a week. (I know I know do not weigh every day) I can not help it. I know this is not a race but I sure would like to know how everyone else is doing. I have been on soft food since day 11. I can have things like eggs, tuna, cream of wheat, peanut butter, and refried beans, and then of course protein (YUK) I am using this stuff called amino 2222 from GNC smells like Hawaiian Punch but taste gross you just take two shots and your done for the day. It seems since I started on foods the scale just won't budge. I am walking on the treadmill everyday so far a mile is the farthest I have gone at once, two miles if i break it up in a day. Please share how you all are doing it helps so much to read about others and their stories. Have a great day! Tami

Tami, This is my one week anniversary, and I am looking forward to tomorrow for my first post-op appt. This will be the official weigh in. Since I am on a clear liquid diet, I am looking forward to those protein shakes. I hope I can find something I like. I have a bunch of samples sitting here, but I am waiting one more day for the doc's okay. I feel a little weak from the liquid diet, but I am now mostly pain free. The stupid drain site causes a discomfort more than a pain. I was so glad to get off the paind meds. They made me wacky. At least, that's what my husband said. Must be true. I will post to this list tomorrow afternoon to tell how the appt. went and what my first shake will be. Linda

Linda I felt weak the first week too. It was not until I started on the foods and off liquids that I felt a little better. Good luck with the scale! Finding a good protein drink seems to be one of the major challenges in the beginning. Tami

Morning Tami! I am almost 2 weeks post op. I don't have a scale in my house because I know I'd be on it all day. I like the surprise at the doc's office. I was on clear liquids for 2 days after GB then on to pureed foodsfor a month. I drink a lot of the protein drinks and use unflavored Unjury protein powder. I've had pureed Wendy's chili (yum), pureed tuna, yogurt, sf pudding, and I also drink a lot of Healthwise protein drinks (LOVE the Proticcino - sorta like coffee to me!) I make a protein shake with - 1/4 frozen banana, 4 oz milk, 1/2 scoop choc protein powder, 1 tsp peanut butter, and 1/2 packet of Splenda. YUM YUM - it's called a Skinny Monkey. I have one every morning. Have a great day! Lisa

Lisa that actually sounds kinda good, do you freeze the banana or do you buy it in the frozen foods. What type of chocolate protein mix are you using? I am desperate to find something that taste good.

Tami, I froze the banana. Our bananas seem to always get brown quickly so we don't waste them by freezing them. It seems to work better frozen. I have Whey Tech Chocolate Protein powder from the Vitamin Shoppe. It is good! Enjoy! Lisa

Lisa, I can't wait until I can try this shake. I sounds so good I can't even type right. I sort of wish I didn't have a scale. After I see the doc tomorrow, I'm going to calibrate my scale to his. I have one of those doctor's scales with the slidey weights on it. It's too good to throw out. Okay I will state my plan here and everyone can hoot at me. I plan to only weigh once a week. I am going to try very hard to stick to this, because I don't want to make myself at least no crazier than I already am. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Did you make it up or did you find it somewhere? Linda

Hi Tami, I am a little over 3 weeks out. I lost 20 lbs in the first 10 days then nothing for over a week. I am still on full liquids for another 2 weeks. But then this week all of a sudden I lost 6 lbs. It is your body trying to conserve energy when it first thinks you are starving it. But then later is sorta realizes that it must use the stored fat for energy so it won't starve. So today I am a total of 39 lbs lost including pre op diet. You will be fine, just give it a little time. Sue 273/261/234/140
