Tabathia I can not tell a lie...
I had about 5 bites of Mash Potatoes three nights ago.
A bite of Cream soup last night and I may have a bit more tonight.
I have been craving salt to no end. I took a few bites. I was satisfied. My pouch was as un irritated as it has been since I had the surgery.
I know clear liquids only. But with the extra salt my tongue does not feel like a dry sea sponge in my mouth constantly. So ...I cheated.
I went up eight pounds after the surgery too. Then I dropped it plus other pounds. It will happen for you to. We must give it time Grasshopper.
my best,
Amy
Well, I have not been the perfect one. I had troubles with just liquids at about 4 or 5 days out. Now I am 12 days out and hope I don't suffer any bad consequences from the little mistakes I have made. Today, instead of liquids only, I had a couple of bites of tb refried beans and some cottage cheese. I wish I could have to willpower to not make these little mistakes but it is soo hard. Pam

Hello Tabathia,
I had the same surgery on 7/25/05 and I am still on clear liquids, thought about cheating but I have restrained myself, I have follow up on Thursday.
I called my surgeon's office and spoke to the dietician and she told me to stay on clear liquids.

Tabathia,
I am on clear liquids, and every time I look at something else, I ask myself if I want to take a chance on being sick or hurting my pouch. My doc is adamant about the clear liquids for the first week or first post-op appt. My appt. is tomorrow, and I am going to wait for that even for protein shakes. I want to do this right. I firmly believe it is my last and only chance for successful weight loss.
My husband is astounded at the strength I have shown. He has seen me stumble and totally fall many times in the years he has known me. I told last nigh, "Failure is not an option!" If this does not work, it won't be because of something I did wrong at the beginning.
I thought about calling the doctor's office to see if I could add something, and I read the handbook his team created and I realized I might as well save the call.
Good luck to everyone on this journey. Small slips will not cause ultimate failure, I am just being super cautious for now. Check back with me in 6 months, and I wil tell you the slips I have made by then.
Whew, I'm glad I got off that soapbox, before I fell off and killed myself.

It's the first time in my life I had the chance to brag that I haven't cheated. The only reason I haven't is I dont want to I hate doing that. That' s one of the reasons I think RNY might actually work for me.
I am going to try very hard to not challenge my pouch. My doc said the
the reason for clear liquids is to give the pouch a chance to heal.

Amy you aren't alone. I've cheated too. I added eggs to my diet a few days early and I've eaten cheese and tb refried beans (though only twice). So far my pouch hasn't disagreed with anything I've tried. I don't think it has affected my weigh loss at all and I do know it has helped me make it through the first few weeks.
