Pain in left side?

Hello July Surgery Folks! I continue to struggle with incredible pain in my left side. (Yes, the doc explained to me that they use the camera instrument in that spot; and to expect soreness). For whatever reason, the pain seems to get worse - especially at night. I am walking and walking - although it really hurts to walk too long. Am I alone in this pain or might others be experiencing the same? Wishing you continued health and weightloss, ~Julie

Julie, Your not alone, I to have pain in my left side especilly when I walk. I'm only 4 days out so I'm hopping it will go away soon. I feel like a sharp knife pain in my left side almost like a side ach when running when being out of shape. I use to get those kind of side achs when I use to run. So I'll see if I get it today. I hope not as I need to do all my walking, with out the pain.Anyway I'll pray for you to have it go away as it's kinda a long time now it should have been gone by now. Blessings, Bonnie

Hi Julie~ When I went to my pre-op class, they told us about the lower left incision may cause a lot of pain, because they put a large stitch in a large muscle to prevent a hernia. I am 6 days post-op and have a little bit of pain there, but nothing excruciating. Maybe that is what is causing yours? They also told me that pain killers will not help, but try a heating pad, as this may ease the pain a bit. They said it would take between 2-4 weeks to go away. Hope this helps

I am 3 weeks out today and I took about 3 HOT baths a day, my husband said I lived there. I had the back and side pain, I thought that may be where they put my old stomach? It finally got easier last week. I still have it if I sit in a hard chair to long. Good luck! I just tell myself "every day I am a day closer to being healed, and every day is gets easier." And it's worked so far 21 days and 36 pounds gone forever!!!

Hi Julie, I had surgery on June 29, 2005, and in the last week have begun experiencing a sharp pain in my left side. I was doing great until last Wednesday when the pain began. The pain feels like a stabbing pain and I have no idea what it could be. It is really confusing since I am not in pain all the time, it comes on all of a sudden.
