Another 26er here
Hi All, So glad that you all made it through your surgeries and are home.
I had mine on the 26th and came home two days later. I was very "sore" in my epigastric area and upper back, but doing OK. I was laid low yesterday. Phew! I was dizzy, nauseated and almost passed out - TWICE.
Called the doctor and was told that some people experience these symptoms when transitioning to Ketosis. I have been on full liquids, getting them in with my 60 grams of protein. I hope none of you have gone through this. I go to the Dr. today to get staples out. It's a three hour drive each way.
When do you start to feel stronger?

Hello from your fellow 26'er!! I am so glad to hear that you made it home safe and sound. I am not so sure that I know what Ketosis is. Could you let me know? Thanks. I hope that you are feeling better now. You have some one else to drive you today right? I know that I couldn't drive. Not that far atleast. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
I am doing well myself. Still really sore on the left side. Everyone said that it would be, and it is. It lets me know its there everytime I get out of bed or stand to quickly. Besides that I am good.
Little by little all of the 26'ers are getting back to the board. It is good to see us togetther!! Continuing to send my thoughts and prayers to you.

Ketosis is...
the presence in the blood of abnormally high levels of acidic substances called ketones. The normal body fuel is glucose. Ketones are produced when there isn't enough glucose in the bloodstream, and fats have to be used. When fats are used excessively as fuels, they are eventually converted to ketones
Ketones give the breath a sickly, fruity odour like nail-varnish remover or pear-drops. Ketoacidosis (high levels of ketones with acidity) causes nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, confusion.
very common in diets that are high protein, low carb like us..or Atkins.
Love to my 26'er sisters

Hi Linda my fellow 26'er
Welcome home! So glad to hear that you are well and back with us. Sorry to hear about the dizziness that is something I didn't experience. Funny it kind of sounds like dumping too. Did you eat anything new just before this happened. Just a thought.
Good luck on getting the staples out. It sucks that you have to drive so far. I'm not going to complain about my 20 min drive anymore even if there is traffic. lol
All my best to you
Take care,
Amy

Linda-
Hey my surgery and name twin! I am glad you made it through and were home shortly after.
I am sorry you've been having dizzyness. I have had some fatique that comes and goes...but not dizzy.
I have heard that the energy really comes back and you start to feel good around week 3 or 4.
Hang in there!
Linda
Thanks to all of you and your support and prayers. I am back in Ohio - lived through the 3 hour each way drive. I had my hubby drive and it felt good to get out. All my staples and J drain are out. I had a fluid pocket in my left incision that they had to pack.
Bad part was I sat too long and got "all gassed up". Pain in my abdomen and shoulders. Walked and walked and couldn't get rid of it. Anyone have any advice on how to get rid of gas?
