End of July Check in- Ya'll post here an update everyone
Hi everyone.
I'm so excited to be on the losing side - finally.
#1 - 7-5-05 was surgery date
#2 - lap rny
#3 - last Monday was 37 pounds. Can't wait til tomorrow for post op visit to see if I lost anymore because the last time was a full 7 days and only 3 lbs lost. I don't feel like I've lost anymore though.
#4 - Emotionally I'm feeling just fine but I'm a little disturbed that the weight isn't "falling off" like people told me it would. The 37 pounds includes an 18 pound loss during my pre-op diet and even though the dr counts it, I can't help but wonder why I haven't lost more these last two weeks when I'm eating just what I'm told to and getting in all my protein and water. The one thing I'm not doing is exercising yet, waiting to get my clearance tomorrow. BUT like some of you I figured having my insides rearranged the weight would be coming off consistently. I can be patient though. I'm sure 6 months down the road we will all be so blown away by how much we have lost. Physically I'm doing great with the exception of not having my endurance or stamina fully back. In time that will come.

#1 Surgery date: July 14, 2005
#2 type of surgery: Open RNY
#3 Weight Loss - as of July 28, 2005, 22 lbs gone!
#4 how are you feeling: GREAT!!! I can now sleep on my side and stomach without a pillow (my two sleeping positions), getting more water and protein in, and my taste is coming back slowly. I will be on pureed foods (no meat) for another two weeks, then can start adding meat.
My binder is already too big for me - I'm going to have to do binder surgery tonight to make it smaller! I go back to work tomorrow so I will really need that binder support!

What a great idea. I was thinking I was the only one "stalling"!
So here goes:
Surgery was 7-8-05
Lap RNY
Lost 20 pounds per my scale. 18 pounds in the 1st 2 weeks, 2 pounds in the last 8 day but I have PCOS so I don't expect this to be easy.
Emotionally I am fine and physically I'm good enough to return to work tomorrow. I still get tired and today, started having an occasional stabbing pain on my left side. I'm not going to worry as long as it is jus occasionally because I had a seroma (accumulation of fluid) in the same area that was much more painful.
So, will we do this again at the end of next month, too?

#2 Type of Surgery? RNY LAP
#3 Weight lost- 24 LBS PRE OP 22 LBS POST OP TOTAL 46#
#4 How are you feeling
Emotionally - I feel wonderful. Happy that I am loosing some weight just not as much as I would have thought or hoped. Not eating very much. Maybe 300 calories a day Consisting of lean meat and green leafy veges. about 1 1/2 oz per day. I get all my water in and than some. I am drinking about 80 ozs a day I think I retain water because the weight seems to coming off slow for the amount of food I eat.
Physically I have no energy or very little energy. I have tired swimming in the past 2 days and can do 5 laps before I am totally out of breath. I guess that is better than nothing. I know once I can do more excercise I will loose more. I am taking more b vitamins for energy Hopefully that will boost things up
Everyone here seems to be doing FANTASTIC. Keep up the good work
hugs from Houston
