Ok...how about a check in from everyone! So to celebrate our end of the month -I want to know how everyone is doing!!? I think most of us have had our surgery (unless someone has a Sunday surgery scheduled!) So answer the following: #1 Surgery Date? #2 Type of Surgery? #3 Weight lost- (if you know...I know some are avoiding scales)? #4 How are you feeling (Emotionally and Physically)? Linda

I'll start myself! #1 Surgery Date? last Tuesday July 26- so I am 5 days out #2 Type of Surgery? Laproscopic RNY #3 Weight lost- (if you know...I know some are avoiding scales)? Right now I am up 3 lbs. (Isn't that crappy!??! I was up 11 lbs the day I came home?!?!? ) #4 How are you feeling (Emotionally and Physically)? Not to bad. I am dying to have some type of "real" food. I am still on clear liquids. I can have full liquids in a few days and then another week I can start the mushy stuff. I am getting up and around a lot. I tire out easily. I am still on a tiny bit of pain killers. Hope many of you will post and share how you are doing!?!?! Linda

Hi Linda- Great idea!! Well, here goes- My surgery was a lap RNY on July 15. So far I have lost apprx. 20 lbs. Everything went well, however ths first week to 10 days was diarrhea, then I took Immodium for it and became extremely constipated. That is what I've been dealing with recently. I have been advanced to cottage cheese and egg beaters but really dont feel like eating them, afraid they'll make the constipation worse. Have been pretty much sticking to full liquids. Some days I feel really good with lots of energy, and others ,like today, i feel weak and my back aches, and just feel blah, and easily tearful. Had my first WOW moment tho...Tried on an outfit for Church this am that i haven't been able to wear for years, and it is actually almost too big. ANd someone asked me if i'v ebeen losing weight and said how good i looked!! That made my day!! I guess it'll be good and bad days for awhile. Any thoughts on the constipation problem would be helpful(have used MOM and yesterday used a Dulcolax Suppository that was somewhat helpful) Hope everyone else is feeling well, and i guess we need to be patient with ourselves! Hugs Pam

Surgery Date--July 11 Lap RNY 18 pounds Feeling pretty great but still tire out very easily. I need to get my energy back soon because I am a teacher and school starts in two weeks! I am still supposed to be on pureed foods for another week but have advanced myself to some soft foods and it has helped my energy level tremendously! I had some problem with dairy foods for a few days but stayed off of them for two days and now can go back to eating them. Emotionally I feel great. I can ALMOST cross my legs now and turning over in bed is so much easier. Clothing is looser but I haven't goine down in sizes yet. Hope to take a car trip the end of the week to go to my 40th high school reunion!! Sandy

Hey Linda! July 11th lapriscopic RYN Weight loss is at 28 pounds , which is great but I'm feeling very nauseus and I'm having pain in my stomach which wasn't there before. I'm not sure whats going on since the first two weeks went so well .Very little pain or nausea. I started on pureed foods, but I'm tempted to go back on liquids only just to see if I feel any better. Emotionally , I'm OK one minute and then the next I'm in tears so who knows . I know it will get better. I'm glad to here others are doing so well. I wish everyone the best . alena

7/7/05 Lap RNY 30 lbs emotionally-fine physically-still weak at times Biggest obstacle is left side pain. I see the doc tomorrow about it. It feels like a stabbing pain, and progresses to a burning/tearing sensation when I bend or move quickly. Overall, things are great!

1- 7/13 2- Open RNY 3- 43# including 20 preop 4- Generally Ok, haven't had a problem with wanting to eat because I have been feeling so nauseous, have had to force myself to have some cream soup because my doc wants me to start getting a few more calories. Also struggling with being very lethargic this has been a problem because it makes it even more of a struggle to get on the treadmill. Hope all this gets better soon because as a previous person wrote I am also a teacher and we report back to school on 8/15.

I would say I'm at 90%. No pain but a lack of energy or stamina. I get tired quicker than I did pre op..but hey its only been 5 days. SOOOO dang thirsty..all the time..nothing makes it better..having no problems getting my water in. Haven't been able to sleep last two nights. Don't know why but it can't be helping. No appetite. Every protein shake is a battle. Best to you all, Amy www.closertofine.net 26'ers rock lol

Hi, my turn to check in. Hope that everyone is doing well. #1 July 26, 05 #2 Bypass RYN #3 Well acording to my scale... ZERO!! #4 Feeling pretty good. Still sore. But, O.K. as for emotionly, some weight loss would have helped. My biggest is that I can not drink the isopure. It is making me so sick. Besides that I am doing great. Best Wishes!! Donna P.
